Re: M80 Sign-Ups
Question: If the delayer's target attempts an action, and then gets killed during the subsequent day, does their delayed action get cancelled?

Hah! Interesting one. I'm open to discussion on how we feel it should behave.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 4:27 amQuestion: If the delayer's target attempts an action, and then gets killed during the subsequent day, does their delayed action get cancelled?
Personally, I think it'd be spooky and neat if it could still happen. Their ghost, maybe.

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
Logically it should be cancelled. But I agree it could be fun to allow. Like a pirate's curse of some sort.Chaqa wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 4:32 amHah! Interesting one. Re: M80 Sign-Ups
I'd be all for the spooky ghost doing the action.
Also, the text for the Vote Doubler seems to be partially copied and pasted from the Vote Remover, the first part says that the vote is removed and doesn't count. You might want to proofread it.
But that leads me to another question: if someone is targeted by both the Doubler and the Remover, does the target have no vote (mathematical rule, multiply by zero) or does it just negate each other (+1 -1)?
(I'm pretty sure the 'negate each other' is correct, but it doesn't hurt to ask beforehand to be sure.)

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
I think based on the wording it would always count as zero but I’m open to them canceling out as a balance mechanism. If no one has major objections I’ll codify that and the Spooky Delayer rule before game startKakarroto wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 5:06 amI'd be all for the spooky ghost doing the action.

##CALL GM
If a PR is targeted by a "Delayer" action on N1 while attempting to perform an action, and is then Jailed on N2, then presumably their action does not occur on N2.
Correct?
If the answer is "correct" then I would submit that the same adjudication should apply if the target is Delayed on N1 and then dies during D2 - i.e. the action should fail.

Potato, potato; potato.
Re: M80 Sign-Ups
personally I would slightly prefer it to cancel out, but it is your game set up so if you think it should fully cancel, I'm not against it, just want to know it before hand. It IS mathematically correct if you multiply something by zero that it is still zero. So yeah, I fully support your choice there.Chaqa wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 7:22 amI think based on the wording it would always count as zero but I’m open to them canceling out as a balance mechanism. Re: M80 Sign-Ups
the spooky ghost kills someone and their essence is destroyed and thus removed from the discord server for M80 forever?
Just a guess, though.

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
If a player was delayed on N1 and jailed on N2, any action they attempted to take on N2 would be jailed, but their N1 action would still happen via delay.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 9:34 am##CALL GM

I think we just codify it's a spooky ghost doing it and don't think too much about the logic of it lol

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
So, here's where I'm at on the current discussions:
1. Vote Doubler and Vote Remover targeting the same one, I think I will have them cancel out instead of causing it to always be 0. It feels more fair.
2. The Delayer delaying someone's action, and that player dying on the subsequent day, or being jailed/roleblocked on the subsequent night, will not stop the delayed person's action from taking place. There's only a few actions this will get weird with, so we're going to chalk it up to Pirate Ghosts.
I'll leave this open to discussion until an hour or so before game start when I do role PMs. It will be finalized/clarified then.

These are weird and somewhat counter-intuitive mechanics.Chaqa wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:36 pmIf a player was delayed on N1 and jailed on N2, any action they attempted to take on N2 would be jailed, but their N1 action would still happen via delay.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 9:34 am##CALL GM

For 1, just tweak the wording so that one power adds +1 vote, and one subtracts 1 vote.Chaqa wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:42 pmSo, here's where I'm at on the current discussions:

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
Perhaps it would clear things up to update it to delay receiving the RESULT for one day, instead?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 1:04 pmThese are weird and somewhat counter-intuitive mechanics.Chaqa wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:36 pmIf a player was delayed on N1 and jailed on N2, any action they attempted to take on N2 would be jailed, but their N1 action would still happen via delay.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 9:34 am##CALL GM

Re: M80 Sign-Ups
When the edit button reappeared, I assume some message was sent—maybe by the Council, maybe to the Council—asking what changed and hopefully suggesting a reversion to the status quo for the games subforum, since it's important to Mafia games.
So does anyone know what's up with the edit button, and can it be made to go away again?
