Oh, I don't know, making a third vote makes me feel a little wishy-washy. I meant to convey clarity and certainty. I've been very torn on the vote, but seeing today's posts, I've finally felt confident in voting for Fox.

It's weird that you wouldn't be wishy-washy. It's day 1, we're barely out of the shitpost phase, and there's basically no real information. You shouldn't have any clarity or certainty at this point.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:13 pmOh, I don't know, making a third vote makes me feel a little wishy-washy. I agree. That's why I would rather avoid changing my mind willy-nilly. Spew out tons of different votes is confusing.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:15 pmIt's weird that you wouldn't be wishy-washy. Thanks for posting peterbot! I guess I have the most words/char/ w/post.

People aren't going to just look back at your votes. They're going to look at all the various theories you've thrown out, too. That's the point of the Peterbot.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:18 pmI agree. That's why I would rather avoid changing my mind willy-nilly. I just don't get the weird mix of confidence + hedging that I pick up from you, and that's what makes me suspect you.

I think you are overestimating my confidence. In the first day, I normally don't like to vote, for not only roleplaying purposes but because there generally is no way to make an educated guess.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:25 pmPeople aren't going to just look back at your votes. It's just that for once somebody has behaved in a way that is suspicious enough that a vote for them is at least reasonable, relative to day one uncertainty.
I feel like you tried to communicate as a mafia traitor, and your behavior since then has done nothing to dissuade that opinion.

Try-harding can be a sign of mafia from new players, as well...sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:51 pmThat's unfortunate because I spent a lot of time on that post. ):

Re: MAFIA 79: The Price is Right! [GAME THREAD]
I don't get Fox's progression on s&c here, I actually have the opposite. s&c started wanting to no kill which is a classic newbie town trap, then elected on a pseudo-random vote once informed of the trap, then gradually developed a read rooted in in-game reasons which grew in confidence throughout the day. that's exactly how newer townies play when they start grasping things.
if s&c is mafia steering things then they had a remarkable personality shift in a short time, because s&c's start was anything but steering a kill
that doesn't make Fox suspicious per se, people can be wrong, but I'm not moved by Fox's later framing of s&c as scum-indicative "confidence + hedging." kind of feels like Fox needed to latch onto a read and landed on s&c
##vote Foxcastle
perfectly ok with Bona wagon though.
Chaqa wagon remains both dumb and reasonable
sweetandcool wagon is bad

Re: MAFIA 79: The Price is Right! [GAME THREAD]
Strongly disagree that it's a newbie town trap. When I was newbie scum, I used it, for example. It's an easy way for newbie scum to push (what they think is) a pro-town position without having to risk sticking their neck out on another player.President Eden wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:55 pmI don't get Fox's progression on s&c here, I actually have the opposite. s&c started wanting to no kill which is a classic newbie town trap, then elected on a pseudo-random vote once informed of the trap, then gradually developed a read rooted in in-game reasons which grew in confidence throughout the day. that's exactly how newer townies play when they start grasping things.

"Steering" might be too strong. But there's a lot of pointing fingers without a lot of basis for doing so this early in the game.
Also, why do I need a read to latch on to? If I'm scum, I'm can just say the vibe is off or something.

Thanks for putting in words exactly how I feel about Fox currently.

Again, why would experienced scum do this on D1?sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 6:04 pm"that doesn't make Fox suspicious per se, people can be wrong, but I'm not moved by Fox's later framing of s&c as scum-indicative "confidence + hedging." kind of feels like Fox needed to latch onto a read and landed on s&c"

It's way too early in the game for me to start ranting about how the real scum are the player who look towniest.
