I'm trying. At the moment, I am having this interaction with you and solving / evaluating your alignment in my head by comparing this to my experience with you in the last game.

So I am getting something out of it. Currently, on my internal scale of 10 being Towniest and 1 being Mafiaest, you are a 4. If it goes much lower, I will summarize my case for others and cast a vote. It hasn't reached that threshold yet. And if it goes higher, I will move onto the inquisiton of the next subject in my mind.

And yep, you are correct that I never played with you as Town. Oh well, I use the tools & data I have.

Why do you think you need to find the PRs...?

Well knowing how many Mafias and what PRs they are seems obviously helpful to winning the game so we can hunt them down better.

Town PRs are less directly useful, but my understanding is that there is a certain sense of what a balanced game looks like. And there is even a Mafia Council that approves and reviews them. So like there wouldn't be a game with 3 Town Doctors and 3 Town Vigilantes and only 2 Vanilla Mafias, right?

I personally would find it helpful to have at least a guess on what the actual setup looks like. Shrug – are you going to tell me this is doing it wrong again?

If we lose this game and next game ghug turns down the option of me playing their way, maybe I should try the vibes thing BK3K loved. Skim & gut-feel galore?

To be clear – I'm super happy to get feedback – between games.

You don't learn chess or poker by asking your opponent for advice mid-game. You do it by analyzing and asking post factum.

Being a Mafia is so much easier because you have the safety of trusted teammates in the Mafia Chat you can bounce ideas off.

3) You are 100% correct. I do believe that I explicitly and clearly stated that the rationale for the gimmick was to avoid folks using my meta from past games – because Bona has warned me I'm going to get D1 voted for my Mafia deeds in our Mafia chat last game. And I stated this before this game stated, committing to it regardless of my alignment in advance. Now I am simply following through as promised, which as rdrivera correctly called it is ironically my true meta.

Are you implying I shouldn't have believed you? But our discussion was in a Mafia chat, where presumably you have no reason to lie to me at the time. I think it was just banter at the time, but you know what they say about every joke has a pinch of truth in it... It can be pretty easy to get down on yourself. This really isn't a very confidence-boosting game, in general. Made harder through trying to sift through so many different personalities behind a keyboard.

I think you'll develop your own style.

Best way to help town is to be obvious-town. Sometimes even that isn't very obvious.

It was not intended to. My whole argument with ghug was about defending my approach to playing the game as legitimate and IMHO effective, not promoting my Towniness (which is true but unprovable to you).

Fair enough. And if that's the case, and I figure out this was the case I will adjust my approach – after this game when the alignment of all the folks giving me advice has been revealed.

This is why I already promised the ghost of ghug to give ghug the option to play the next way "the ghug way" if we lose.

But I'm not particularly receptive to folks of unknown-alignment telling me how to play mid-game. You all have seen my post in the Sign Up thread. Could have told me it was a terrible idea back then... but did anyone tell me that back then? Nope. So now you get the KirbyKoala for this game, and I'll re-evaluate after the game ends.
