Why not? It may be his actual item.

I don't believe scum would claim his actual item. I expect him to claim a protective v item, either to escape lynch or to get a counter claim.
But maybe it was a good play as I almost changed my vote. I still think Ghug could be scum, the ND make no sense what info this would give to town? And Ghug was never a "let's lynch a lurker" player.
