Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
No (17)
Just a point of clarification. I see "primarily" used a lot. I am using it synonymously with "mainly." I am not treating it as "only," and if a person or character has more than one "primarily" relationship I would answer "yes" to either or any.
So, based on my interpretation:
Michael Jordan primarily played basketball. Michael Jordan played baseball. Michael Jordan did not primarily play baseball.
LeBron James is primarily associated with the Cavs, and he is primarily associated with the Lakers, and he is primarily associated with the Heat. He is all three of those "primarilys" all at once.
William Shatner is primarily famous for acting in a TV series. William Shatner is also primarily famous for acting in movies.
I think that is the right way to do it, but somebody please help me if I'm doing that wrong.
Also, to remove any doubt of extra trickiness, this person is not at all known for science fiction or fantasy.

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
Balki, if he wasn't born a few months too early (May '59) I would have guessed Bronson Pinchot because that would have been some meta-level brilliance right there.

Now I am sad that I did not pick Mr. Pinchot. He actually has a nice solid IMDb page with some hit films and other projects, including his own reality series! The big time!
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
This is pretty much exactly what we've been using it for, avoiding situations like Michael Jordan as a baseball player.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 3:23 amNo (17)

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
Would debate whether or not Myers is better known for TV Series (SNL) or movies, but I like it anyway. A lot of the other SNL'ers that I thought of (Spade, Sandler, Ferrell) have that same problem. There are a couple of others that crossed my mind, like Jerry Seinfeld or Jason Alexander, but they're both too old (although, again, Alexander was born in 59 - so close!)
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
Yeah. Austin Powers popped into my head later than Wayne's world. And I'm not sure the voice of Shrek would put him more in the movie corner.DougJoe wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:27 pmWould debate whether or not Myers is better known for TV Series (SNL) or movies, but I like it anyway. Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
Might be worth asking if they've been on SNL (either as cast or a guest, or maybe just as cast).
Also, might be worth asking another age question. We've got a 20 year gap, and narrowing that down to a 10 year gap could be helpful.
But we're down to our last questions, so others can weigh in if they have better things to ask.

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 83
Please read my clarification of “primarily.” For someone like Myers, he would definitely fall into the LeBron example. I’d say Myers was primarily known for movies AND primarily known for TV series. And agreeing that someone is primarily or mainly known for one thing does not mean they are primarily known for only that thing.DougJoe wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:27 pmWould debate whether or not Myers is better known for TV Series (SNL) or movies, but I like it anyway. I am clarifying this because your comments suggested a different understanding than I presented in my definition, not because this has any bearing on my person. But I have not answered any questions about whether my person is better known for one thing over another thing. That question would be pretty subjective anyway.
