Re: Twenty Questions - Game 82
Maybe a comic book author, although perhaps those would be graphic novelists? I'm not too familiar with the genre.

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 82
A famous comic book writer who is only famous for one comic?
Potato, potato; potato.
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 82
I was kind of thinking the same thing too because Dr. Seuss popped into my head - ol' Theo G. died too soon but the idea spurned the clarification on book versus novel.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 4:33 pmDid he write primarily for children?
(I am thinking that someone who produced a picture book with a few words, aimed at young children, would not be classified a "novelist")
Great guess, although WtWTA was turned into a film...Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 4:39 pmIF the answer to that question is "Yes",
THEN: I would like to guess MAURICE SENDAK.
But if the answer to that question is "No", then I withdraw this guess, please don't answer the guess in that case, only the question.
Was thinking comic books, too, although a *lot* of those have been turned into movies or TV. (For example _Diary of a Wimpy Kid_ came to mind originally, but there are two of those movies.)

I think this is the key question.
Theodor Seuss Geisel and Eric Carle fit the bill.

It isn't Dr. Seuss as some of his works have been adapted. Same for Roald Dahl etc.

If answer to primary audience being children is "yes," please put me down for the great Eric Carle.

The wikipedia page for this references it as being adapted for television, which generally we've been using as our first source of qualifying an answer. Probably not this.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:36 pmThat's a good point.
Do you think this counts as an adaptation of Very Hungry Caterpillar?

We're down a deep rabbit hole that may be irrelevant seeing as how we don't even know if the primary audience is children, but I feel like this answer doesn't strike me as one that used Wikipedia to verify:VillageIdiot wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 9:32 pmThe wikipedia page for this references it as being adapted for television, which generally we've been using as our first source of qualifying an answer. Re: Twenty Questions - Game 82
Could just as easily mean that Wikipedia doesn't mention it, but he didn't do an exhaustive check of all television to make sure some terrible adaptation didn't appear on BBC5 one time in 1993 before being scrubbed from memory.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 9:44 pmWe're down a deep rabbit hole that may be irrelevant seeing as how we don't even know if the primary audience is children, but I feel like this answer doesn't strike me as one that used Wikipedia to verify:

Is this person primarily known for writing about self-improvement or advice?
If yes I’ll guess DALE CARNEGIE.

I guess use that if my guess if the answer was yes to the self-improvement question.

I feel like the self-improvement/advice angle doesn’t work because he’s not a prolific non-fiction writer.

As said before it’s implied that he’s famous for “a” book, so it could potentially still be nonfiction right?Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 6:05 amI feel like the self-improvement/advice angle doesn’t work because he’s not a prolific non-fiction writer.
