Interesting that you considered choreograpers but not dancers.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 6:05 pmHas composed but not known as a composer
Not known for playing a musical instrument
But also known for association with music in some capacity...
Most conductors I've looked at were also composers (often on that list), and conductors are generally too obscure for 20 questions.
Ballet choreographers I've looked at were not composers at all, besides being too obscure for 20 questions.
You might guess something like a technologist working with music in some capacity, but he wasn't a scientist or engineer.
Singers of various sorts come next. You'd exclude anyone acting, which presumably rules out opera, but even if you don't rule out opera, I can't find a candidate that I'd consider notable enough for this.
Re: Twenty Questions game 79
Yes, I see that. But a strict reading of that question does not actually rule out being an actor in some capacity. It just requires that they also be a painter, author, musician, or some other non-acting artist. E.g., if the person in question were Lady Gaga, the answer would still be yes (musician, non-acting/film artist) despite her "acting" career.
If there's a complaint about me bringing up Yul Brynner, it's more that it's much harder to describe him as having a musical career (other than, you know, literal musicals... but that is acting, I suppose...)
To be clear, I am not complaining and do not consider this to be a problem with the game!
Re: Twenty Questions game 79
I haven't been able to find a notable enough Russian singer outside of opera :\
Re: Twenty Questions game 79
I have looked at them. If you're looking at dancers from Russia/etc born before 1930, you're looking at ballet, and if there's a segment of the arts more obscure than opera, it's ballet. Nijinski is the only one whose name I even kind of recognize and I don't see anything about him composing.damo666 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 6:25 pmInteresting that you considered choreograpers but not dancers.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 6:05 pmHas composed but not known as a composer

Are there any famous graffiti artists who are dead and were also famous DJ's or something? This is so odd.

He was actually a musician, apparently! A painter or a musician who was not a painter must therefore have been a musician.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:27 amAnd who is strongly associated with music but does not play an instrument.

Re: Twenty Questions game 79
Okay Damo, thanks.....
We're out of questions.
So:
- Strongly associated with music, BUT not a musician (and not known as a composer).
- Strongly associated with painters and painting, BUT not a painter himself.
This is a riddle.
What sort of person would this describe (noting all the other information too)?
I'm totally stuck.
