The only person you're truly competing against, Wesley, is yourself.

Is he known for being in politics, public service, or the armed forces?

Au contraire! My strategy was to use up the 15 remaining questions by asking really dumb rhetorical questions. Unfortunately, Damo saw through my plan.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 10:32 pmIf your strategy was just to use up the 15 remaining questions by listing living European men, I think that's unlikely to produce the right result.
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
I thought it was a clever rhetorical question, aimed at the emptiness of our achievements so far into our lives – err, so far into the 77th match of this rigged game.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 1:42 amAu contraire! Might this person be considered a national embarrassment, of the sort that might be expected to find coal in their stockings on Christmas morning?

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
Even when this game is this close to overtake the number it has been played here compared to the number of mafia games (disregarding the mini's), it's still only the 76th game.

10. IS known for being in politics, public service or the armed forces
So a living British man in politics, public service or the armed forces. Hmmm.
Does he hold a royal or aristocratic title because of his blood connection? (maybe 'born with the title' might be a better phrasing? I don't want to include people who got a knighthood or other title only for their actions in this question)

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
I'm being pedantic here, but I am going to assume from Damo's answer to question 8 that this person is not, and has never been, Prime Minister of the UK, or the leader of any of the other main political parties.
This is because, while members of the public are free to attend most House of Commons debates, and can just turn up on the day without booking, to attend Prime Minister's Questions I believe you need to book a ticket.
@Damo: Can you confirm this is correct?
(Note this is a clarification, not an additional question - if Damo is unwilling to respond as a clarification, then I'll withdraw the query. I don't want to use up an official question).
The only person you're truly competing against, Wesley, is yourself.
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
I am happy to have Damo clarify per your conditions, but to counter your pedantry, the specific question was "Would it be normal to buy a ticket (for example, to a movie, to a game, to a performance, etc etc) to watch this person do what they are known for?" It was designed to avoid the technicality of "would you ever buy a ticket to see this person."Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 1:39 pmI'm being pedantic here, but I am going to assume from Damo's answer to question 8 that this person is not, and has never been, Prime Minister of the UK, or the leader of any of the other main political parties.

1. Most people watching a PM do what they are known for are doing it through the news, live events, etc. Buying a ticket to Prime Minister's Questions is therefor not the "normal" way people see a PM in action, as opposed to people buying a ticket to see an actor in a movie.
2. Prime Minister's Questions are not what the PM is known for. They are known for being PM, to which Prime Minister's Questions is incidental.
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
Is he currently holding the most prominent position of his career? (As opposed to being retired, demoted, out of office, still in office but not in leadership, etc)
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 76
As they say in Foxcastle, au contraire! Look a little more closely at the list of completed games. This is the 77th game.
