Re: XX Questions, Game LXXI
So we know he was a Catholic, European military man who wasn't a native English speaker, born between 1600 and 1699.
Hopefully that's enough questions about his exact date of birth.
Hopefully that's enough questions about his exact date of birth.
Potato, potato; potato.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXXI
I would go for Loius XIV, but the cause of his death was exceptionally well documented.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXXI
Where I'm currently at:
French:
Louis Charles César Le Tellier (died in Paris)
Jean-Baptiste François des Marets, Marquis de Maillebois (died in Paris)
François-Marie, 1st duc de Broglie (died in Broglie)
Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (died suddenly in Havana; had previously Malaria; some think he caught yellow fever)
Louis Joseph, Duke of Vendôme (died at Vinaròs during campaign)
Claude Louis Hector de Villars (died at Turin during campaign)
Anne Jules de Noailles (died in Versailles)
Anne Hilarion de Tourville (died in Paris)
Nicolas Catinat (died at Saint-Gratien)
Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban (died in Paris)
Maréchal Luxembourg (François-Henri de Montmorency, duc de Luxembourg) (died in Versailles in bed after an illness)
François de Créquy (died in paris)
Portuguese:
António Luís de Sousa, 2nd Marquis of Minas (died in Portugal)
José da Silva Pais (died in Lisbon)
Italian:
Francesco Morosini (died in Nauplia)
I didn't find any fitting military personel for Spain (either born too late or died too soon) or Romania (bad time period for Romania the 17th century is), at least for my limited search; it might be there are many fitting people, just I don't have access to that information at this time.
I checked and I haven't used my free guess here, and due to the nature of Question 11, the cause of death, my best bet would be Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville since the english wikipedia page is questioning it and the german wikipedia page states the cause of death as fact.
Other than that, only Claude Louis Hector de Villars seems to have a similar (if milder) strange death story, he went to campaign 'energetically' but died at campaign at Turin. (In the german version it says though, his health was degrading and he was unsatisfied with his comrads in arms so he asked for recall from the army and died on an illness at Turin while he was travelling home.)
Hmm ... well at least it's interesting that there is (sometimes) such a big difference in the wikipedia articles. It kinda comes down to a coinflip for me ... well that is, if one of them is correct, maybe both are wrong. But I don't think I'll find a better answer with my current research and I'm at a point where I don't know better, so for this time, my last hurrah before I leave the field (for this question).
Anyway, for my (personal) 50/50, since one died at 81 and the other one only got to 44 years, my free guess is: Was it Claude Louis Hector de Villars?

Welp, it didn't show me. Anyway, I've made my final guess, if I don't hit I wave the white flag and let you all continue.
Re: XX Questions, Game LXXI
I meant way more than 50, but more than 150 is actually correct too. That list had 165 names, although some may have been repeats.JECE wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 1:26 amThere are way more than 150 names on that list, FYI.Kakarroto wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 11:58 pmJust to make it faster to check in future, here is the full list from the page:

As in, was he a king? Or are you asking whether he received a title from a king?
