Don't assume anything I went my first 30 games of mafia without ever rolling scumRumi Tobari wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 4:00 pmActually new thought, but its probably meaningless, but I'm just curious. What are the odds of rolling scum, and what are the odds of doing it twice? I was actually kind of assuming Neon was town here because she was scum last time. Isn't it something like 25% on top of 25% so like... 12.5%?Rumi Tobari wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 3:55 pmYou're kind of doing that thing again that I thought was scummy last time, but now I'm just starting wondering if its NAI. You're being all "preemptive defensiveness is scummy.", then turning to brain and being "Therefore Rumi is town." which actually kinds of contradicts the point you're making?
I think those are probably reasonable odds Neon is town?

I actually had a grizzly bear shit right next to my tent once in western Montana - woke me up at 2 AM and had me scrambling for my 20 gauge - but no, I’ve never had a bear of any size or stature shit in my tent.BesharamSabi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:58 pmYou really care a lot about something that is just a post for him to group his reads.bo_sox48 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:56 pmI don’t personally care about meta - I change my play all the time, so how could I? - but I do care about wasting oxygen and that’s all his preliminary middle of D1 reads list with zero explanation and no content at all is.BesharamSabi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:52 pmProbably have one liners but sure. I can show you games where has done this numerous times.
Are you OK? Did a polar bear shit in your tent?

I like this post. I had the same feeling when I read the setup, Mafia roles are far better.wolfu wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:20 pmjust like, that whole exercise gets them to strategize and then they work on how to use those roles to counter town, they have a lot more openness to their approach and can figure out their own strategy, the town roles are fairly weak imobrainbomb wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:17 pmI dont see why this setup would be more fun for mafia. The ability to have a special team building night where its a Upick for them is probably a fun moment of bonding. Other than that I cant envision any reason why their roles are more exciting or are so overpowered that itll be “more fun” than being town
not really important anyway

Re: M76 - Dungeons and Dragons - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
Also I'm in a bit of a "let the lurkers live a little" phase because it's been wrong in M75 and M1021, which sure is maybe a little more of the gambler's fallacy (trying to nail 1 scum lurking in 3 people is going to miss 2 out of 3 times).pyxxy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:59 pmBecause iirc pressuring rdr to post more got him NK'd N1 in M1021bo_sox48 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:50 pmWhy did you feel the need to explicitly avoid shading rdr?pyxxy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:36 pm
I agree but maybe it would be more extreme in either direction. Even more posting in order to seem engaged + even more lurking than a normal lurk. Whatever that means, idk how to lurk more than just not posting.
To be clear. No shade to RDR as I think he's behaving pretty normally. Last game he posted more on D1 but that was because he showed up for EOD, iirc, as I expect him to do here too.
https://mafia.peterlund.se/m1021/game_status.html
idr if it got talked about in the M1021 game thread but in the discord, the scum in that game said that they killed rdr because of his vanilla/PR tell and iirc there was some pressure on him to post more in that game? granted I could be misremembering all this
But like I agreed with worcej earlier, I agree with the idea that scum are more likely to be more active because of the N0.
Re: M76 - Dungeons and Dragons - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
I do not intend to vote for any of the particularly active posters on D1, per my previous post about the N0 mechanic. Yes I realize that I am putting myself in my own arbitrary scumpool, and yes I know that nobody asked.

there was a time when i believed something akin to this but i don't really anymorebo_sox48 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:54 pmDifferent backgrounds lead to different playstyles but reads lists are the biggest filler and waste of time in the entire online mafia community across all the forum based websites so if you want to suck up to me don’t post them, and if you don’t want to suck up to me then that’s totally cool nobody in their right mind would but going forward I’m going to pester you about your reads lists if you don’t actually put effort into justifying them.wolfu wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:50 pmi play a lot of mafia and i like to push myself (although you'll note i had a category for the people with no content so it's not like i have reads on everyone)
i've played 12/12 games with 60 players where i try to give a read on most of the game by the end of day 1
partly it's just a thing i like to do for myself because i like to see how accurate i can be (my results are usually decent) but i also find it more useful to have a big picture perspective
Welcome to webDip mafia.
i will grant you that if someone is posting a list without any surrounding context it's not that useful but i think it's perfectly reasonable to lay out where i stand as deadline approaches
and as i said i think about the game a lot and can back this stuff up if you are actually concerned with any of it

You stated you were not voting outside of the non-participants to Bozo McGallup's survey.
Ergo, you stated you are basing your entire commitment for your daykill vote on it.
You may not be Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, but you are eating crumbs from the supper at the very least.
Judas perhaps?

One hour… not sure if I am going to be able to be on before EoD.
I’m not acting any different than I do every other townie game. You are entitled to vote me off because I don’t solve like you do.
But it will be supremely strange if you do so.

uh i felt it because i have an operating assumption based on experience with mechanically oriented players that they do things like that silly survey but it was not strong because it is day 1 lol. and that sort of generic template i am using slowly gets erased as i get more information to fill in my mental profile of the player
no i don't know damo's alignment dude, i don't have to observe he is acting like how brainbomb described him, do i?
to agree with brainbomb's assessment of his play as each alignment, you necessarily have to know damo's alignment
Also you line of questioning is absurd
i literally don't see your point

Bo definitely seems more engaged, I'm hesitant to call him less scummy, maybe he's just less busy irl / wants to mix up from his lurking last game.BesharamSabi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:54 pmI can't read Bo so far. His posting seems null. He doesn't seem scummy like last game.

Your pushes have been opportunistic and you are using the fact people didn't participate in bozo little poll as a basis of your scum hunting when it's NAI.
Also you have been instigating shit.
I townlean you for this continued hate but this is a bit disingenuous. Even if the survey ends up being useless, it sparked meta conversation about the survey itself and kept the thread moving. Clear net-gain.because they refused to waste their time
