This is a town post I’m quite sure
I'd like to like last game, again warn us all about interpreting cluelessness and newness as towniness, because any one of us could be scum, yes including me.

But if I ask any questions that you think are "obvious" or "common sense" knowledge, that's why I'm asking them.
I didn’t follow last game. Your post just came across as defensive when you had no reason to be. Comes across as someone town being afraid of being wrong. Not sure there is any reason for a scumbo to make that post besides to just say things and there are ways to say things that are less attention drawing imo.
Really? Cause in my experience defensiveness when it's unneeded is a greater than rand chance of being scum not town. But Rumi is town.

Oh god. I didn't even notice that.

Seriously? Is this about to be a repeat of last game? Where some people get blindly defended because liking them?

I was not in the last game, so I do not understand your reference.
Sabi hard defended Neon and insisted she wasn't scum the whole game. (until they were killed). Neon's replacement turned out to be scum.

Even here, Sabi's vote for Bona feels more based in personal feelings rather than anything Bona has done all game. I mean, show me some facts and I'll throw my vote behind Bona.

Some of the votes here feel more memey than substantial, particularly the ones for Tom.

And seriously Bona, wasn't it you (or was it someone else) who told me self-voting was anti-town last game.

tl;dr Personal feelings about something outside the game or prior friendships have no place in something where facts matter. Not things like "I like them." or "the people I invited gate a d1 pass on being voted" (note: both people Sabi invited last game turned out to be scum)

Re: M76 - Dungeons and Dragons - Game Thread [HIDDEN]

#271 Post by pyxxy » Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:32 am

Saw that people started posting their supposed role picks so I stopped reading the thread to go read the setup :eyeroll:

Some questions that came up during my reading:

##CALL GM

1) Is the google doc supposed to say "during either the day phase or the night phase", italics+underline are my theorized addition, for the Inventor's magic missile wand?

aka is it a day vig item power or nah?

2) Does the Periapt protect against even a strongman kill?

3) "Detect Magic" says vanilla vs non-vanilla. Are all scum roles considered non-vanilla? Even Druid pre-transformation?

ty in advance mr chaqa gm sir

---

Back to the point of this post.

Roles that I 100% would not pick:
- Cleric (if you survive a DK, you just die the next day, right? )
- Paladin (M75 showed how powerful solving is, why give town something to solve?)
- Warlock (this took me a while to figure but like there's no cop so why have a GF?)

the alternating night crooked cops also seem bad but maybe I'm missing something?

Roles that I 100% would pick:
- Rogue (Day Vig)

Positive opinion:
- Barbarian
- Bard
- Ranger (Tracker)

Neutral opinion:
- Druid (Universal Backup), never heard of this before, the mafiascum wiki only really talks about it as a town power so no idea how to judge it
- Fighter (Strongman), but moves to positive if Chaqa/GM says that it beats the protection item thingy

Negative opinion:
- Monk (Jailor), maybe I don't understand jailing, it's roleblock + untargetable, right? just doesn't seem that relevant to this setup? if scum wanted a roleblock power, just pick Bard because Bard can be used every night not just twice ever?

if we throw away all the context and just force me to give an answer:

pyxxy: Rogue/Bard/Barbarian/Ranger

No you arent the issue at all. And shame on whoever did that to you. I just thought this was a mafia game and its a shorter phase than usual and the level of play has been pretty disengaged so far
I did wonder if the shorter D1 was going to hurt town lurkers but then I remembered that in all my games webdip has consistently flashwagoned afks during the second half of D1 so really I think it's a town buff 8-)

I think I just approached this wrong

who likes rings of power?
who likes house of the dragon?

im a fan of both.
If I didn't watch any of the GoT tv series and only read the first book would I enjoy Casa del Dragón?

Yes, but I asked what you thought the mafia chose, which could possibly be a different answer, but I will record this for now.
Oh wait I messed this up then.

I'm biased now because now I've seen what everyone else thinks. Clearly I'm missing something about the backup.

pyxxy's "what I would have picked as mafia" before reading, a guesstimate, also you all see to hate using the role names so I'll stop to I guess :( :

day vig, roleblock, vengeful(?) (the Barbarian), tracker

pyxxy's "what I think mafia picked, trying to not be biased even though I've read a bunch of people's answers now":

day vig, roleblock, seems like everyone loves the backup so universal backup, and tracker

hi as said in signups i was invited here by sabi, have played on a ton of different sites. have firsthand experience with sabi and brainbomb (catbae is one of my accounts on mafia universe), everyone else is a stranger to me.

wasn't expecting so many posts this early, working to catch up but not seeing a ton to comment on, atmosphere seems pretty loose which is fine

RHK speaks truth. It takes some pretty shit floundering to get caught D1 as scum.

The value of it is when votes land and the flip happens - then we get to dissect the terribleness of it all.
scum has been voted out day 1 in my last 5 or 6 town games, not that hard if your team plays smart.

i like worcej being the first to make some sort of accusation on page 8.

brainbomb very likely town though for trying to actually get people to be serious and, like, tonal brainbomb things i've observed

rumi probably just newbie town based on all the stuff about experience level and contributions looking generally earnest

Does webdip seem more prolific with D1 posting than most other mafia sites?
