Does America have a tradition of butts? In the UK most settlements of any significant size or age has an area called "the butts" where archery was practiced. Did that naming tradition continue in the US or did the declining popularity of archery do away with it?

I recall buying cigarettes in london and there was a picture of a bloody dissected lung on the back of them. very exciting
