TBH internally we are unsure what the status of things is. A significant amount of players have either left, gone inactive, or just aren't signing up, so we might need to as a group adapt to smaller games going forward until things improve.

Council Announcements

I.

The Council has completed its review of M75 and has assessed the following sanctions accordingly:

1. Jamiet99uk is banned for two games for excessive personal attacks in violation of webDiplomacy’s forum rules and the WebDip Mafia Rules.

This ban will be served in the next two games, irrespective of whether they are mini or mainline games, and will be satisfied upon the completion of the second game.

II.

The Council apologizes for failing to ensure that an active Council member was available to sit out or co-GM with DemonRHK during M75. That duty ordinarily falls to me in the absence of anyone specifically designating themselves to fulfill it, but I did not check to be sure that anyone else would be available before signing up to play, and did not realize the error until after the game had started.

Do not interpret this statement to mean that DemonRHK’s performance was somehow deficient or lacking. Demon is a great GM who has hosted several successful games in the past, and he performed admirably here as well. The Council simply failed to designate someone to sit out and help adjudicate player drama and facilitate replacements, which is a duty we have increasingly sought to place on us to reduce the GMs’ burden in running a game and to allow them to focus on the mechanical aspects without having to referee player fights.

III.

All players are reminded that the webDip Mafia Rules require them to obey GM commands and to maintain respect and decorum for each other and the GMs. Although potentially subject to the Council overruling their decisions, GMs are the primary authority figure in their respective games and are given wide latitude to resolve situations as they see fit. If you believe a GM has severely erred so as to warrant intervention, the appropriate remedy is for you to privately seek Council review of a GM decision. No warnings or other sanctions have been issued with respect to this announcement, we just think it wise to reiterate that this is the expected behavior of all community members going forward.

The next game is M76, to be hosted by Chaqa. Look for signups to be posted this weekend. The game is expected to start within the next few weeks, and the sooner signups fill up, the sooner it can start. Hope to see you there!
