I think I rather dunk one of the POE people who aren’t putting any time into the game anymore

Kind of, but not game-related, but more or less to tell that young upstart Bona to piss off. :D

I’ve been away partly because I don’t see a great reason to post until right before EoN and partly because I’ve been hosting a college friend over because it was cheaper for them to fly out to get a scan than to get the scan without insurance. They’ll leave around mid-day tomorrow so I should be free to post after that point, though I’ll try to get on again tonight. In the mean time, let me post the posts that I’ve written while I’ve had time.

Snowy’s play at the end there felt pro-town and, on review, aligned with the way I expected town to play that day. When he was subbed in he was told that he was scum and that he had 100+ pages to catch up on. We then spent most of the day commenting on his lack of contributions while he went back and seemingly read everything that he missed. Note his progression of reads through the day. Then, a few hours before EoD, he actually started putting things together in a way that felt town coming to quality conclusions.

I feel like you’re being put off by Bona’s delivery more so than his content here. Yes, I agree that her confusion mid-D2 about her tag felt incredibly towny, but it’s also the only thing I find towny about the slot since, perhaps, her early D1 Rumi comments. How can you have someone so towny when almost nothing they’ve done all game feels that way?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:45 pmOk. I think you reached your conclusion first and now you're confbiasing anything that appears to support your view rather than actually examining the evidence with an open mind, but, ok.Bonatogether wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:42 pmyessirJamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:42 pmSo, again, you think all that stuff about "Vanilla Town" nametags was an expertly-crafted and proficiently-delivered acting performance?
Re: MAFIA 75: TROUBLE AT THE PRECINCT [HIDDEN]
I think Bona’s actually town.

He was ahead of the curve on scumreading Byz so if he’s bussing, he’s doing it proactively. Nor did it ever feel like Bona was backing up to reconsider the wagon from the perspective of one who might flip to save his teammate.
At the same time, he’s building on his view of the game in a way that makes a lot of sense given his position. Look at the way he confidently slapped the bus sticker on Neon’s Snowy vote. He saw a vote that aligned with his and then went to analyze the reasoning behind her vote and drew a logical conclusion from that. That’s very towny while also reminding me of how Bona acted when he scumread me. Same vibes as here:
I’m far less confident about Chaqa being town. At one level, he D1 endvoted the GF and I’ve liked the way that he’s pushing rdr. And it seems most likely that has odd scumreads on Bona and Rumi have been “a thing I do sometimes where I sus someone really hard that I'm town reading.”
At the same time, I can’t rule out that he timed his D1 vote to tie the Byz with Damo to maximize his town credit in the way he did M62. Then despite saying D2 that he intended to collapse onto Snowy’s wagon he didn’t. When rdr’s wagon was stagnating and Chaqa became the main CW, he then switched to Sabi to boost them as the CW instead and choosing not to collapse onto Snowy when it looked like he could survive.
Also, a less charitable reading of his scumreads of Bona and Rumi is that I can see them being potential late game miskills. Bona has been miskilled before while I think Rumi got a lot of points not for solving, but instead for not thinking like scum thinks. That latter style of town points seems to hold a lot less wait when people get paranoid.

Though I feel like you’re just joking here.
Re: MAFIA 75: TROUBLE AT THE PRECINCT [HIDDEN]
I was initially thinking that Snowy might not have doc claimed at EoD2 because Sabi was leading until the end. I then remembered that Snowy was a sub for Byz who was much closer to dying D1 and who should have claimed if he was doc.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 1:26 pmThis I really do not understand.
@Celaph, you proposed this morning that Snowy could be the doctor (and if so and they've left, that's really lousy) but then immediately retracted it. Why?
Re: MAFIA 75: TROUBLE AT THE PRECINCT [HIDDEN]
Adding to the first part, if GF snowy had ever peeked, then I doubt that would have left the inno tag on him.President Eden wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 4:51 pmI’m pretty sure snowy never peeked (because Oracle) and just bullshitted about the deathbomb to get through D2. We know he wasn’t the Bus Driver or a passenger on the bus, and at first blush I have no idea how a non-Bus Driver, non-passenger even gets a townie’s nametag without a PR targeting them.
At this point there’s no serious reason to believe that snowy was telling the truth about any nametag shenanigans.
I’m more interested in whether Neon was telling the truth about the Florist visit, although I don’t know how much that matters either
If flowers went to anyone besides Neon, would there have been any reason to not cc her claim as there is no town reason to lie that you got flowers when you didn’t. I can see not claiming if the actual flowers went to a PR, but otherwise, any VT should have just cc’d and gone 1 for 1. Also, if Neon got flowers then means that Darg targeted Sabi which would make a lot of sense for a N1 play.

The building had gone quiet, officers were dropping like flies, and everyone had gone off alone, not trusting anyone. The old officer sighed. His partner was gone. He'd worked with the man for years and all of that was over. For what? Some stupid case they should have never been involved in.
Story of his career.
He sat on the toliet, latest issue of Field and Stream in hand, trying to take his mind away from the nightmare he was quickly found himself in. He paged through the magazine, for a fleeting moment the murders, the crime, everything just washed away. After some time he sighed again and closed it up and stood to return to his sleeping arrangements.
As he stood, the click was audible.
"...again?!"
He had no more had gotten the word out as the explosion send porcelain shrapnel tearing through his body.
