And Jamie responded to it by finally apologizing before feeling the need to be an asshole again now. I wasn't even that upset about the initial comment and I've accepted that it was an honest mistake but the repeated doubling down on it is really gross.

I'd argue that we are adults and adults have lives outside of a firm game and I'm allowed to be just as mad about my friend dying to the lost obvious scum in mafia history weather I am here or not.

Yes absences are common. Missed EoDs are common. Players posting 5 times and disappearing for entire phases is common. It's real life people have things outside the game you can scum read me for it I really don't care.
