The name tag thing, just for clarity, is not a standard webDip Mafia mechanic - it's some special crazy mechanic DemonRHK has added to this game. I think it was tried once before.

Basically everyone starts with a badge. It is not connected to any role powers they might have. Some (not all) badges confer modifiers, both negative and positive (for instance there's one which doubles the power of your vote, but there's also one that nullifies your vote).

Various events, most obviously Visits, cause person A to swap badges with person B.

ONCE per game, you can "peek" at what badge you are wearing at that moment in time.

Sounds like something the GM will amuse themselves following, and I can just ignore because it's so random I cant control it anyways

I have very little balance between checking a forum and doing anything else.

what do you think of events thus far?

No idea. It feels like a ton of things I'm supposed to have opinions on I barely notice, but the things I do have opinions on are things I shouldn't. I don't know what to think anymore. Kinda lowkey feels like I should just sit down, shut up, and let the big kids do their thing because I'm out of place and don't really belong.

Was only suspicious of Eden because there was too much interest in engaging with me and feeling out my view that nobody else had done. I often assume if anyone is interested in me, my interests, my opinions, or just what I have to say, there's an ulterior motive

I'm told day 1 is built on small talk, tone reading (whatever that is), and supposition. We have no facts at his time. Day 2 is where we use the vote breakdown in day 1. Which given that the day 1 votes aren't built on any existing analytic data on our voting breakdowns, may not tell us anything other than how to influence people to vote a certain way. (which itself is knowledge)

I suppose if we must "gain" or "lose" something, then we have learned that people can stick to agreements, at the very least when the stakes are perceived to be low in the beginning.

day 1 is not simply the 'lmao do whatever day' (although it can be if you want to ). there are things that you can figure out, but there are very few hard lines that are 'this is scum/this is town'. the main thing is to get people to box themselves in by getting them to take a stand. watching how other people interact (or not, as may be the case) is also fascinating.

i will say that you should never sit down or shut up in this game - it's way more fun to be wrong than to be quiet. i get that a lot of what other people are posting in a more serious way is not easy stuff to pick up off of as a new player (how people usually play, for example, is totally not there for you). however, if you were scum, what are your goals? how do you accomplish that? what does a constructive town player look like? even if you're wrong or off doing something that no one else understands, you add something by other people interacting with it.

that's kinda rambly but just generally try and create information and use the fact that you know your role to extrapolate.

I assumed you were joking, but if you're not, the entire value of D1 is the vote breakdown, and the posts made aiming for a particular vote result. Randomizing that defeats the entire purpose of the information we get out of D1.

I could make an extended defense of the virtue of taking D1 seriously, but I'm not gonna do that cause some other tryhard will if you're being serious.

This is a generally correct summary of how Day 1 goes. But if we rig our votes to follow a set arbitrary pattern, what data do you imagine will emerge from that to allow us to conduct a more rational inquiry into Day 2?

To be perfectly honest, though I didn't want to say it openly. The idea was to determine who wouldn't play along. Not if someone wouldn't. Who. Even if I were to convince everyone to do this, I firmly believe one or two people would change their mind at the last minute, or would have only been pretending to agree.

The idea was to identify them.
