See I actually remember Sabi being the newbie that I actively, intentionally treated more gently than my normal instinct would have been. And Sabi will N E V E R admit it, but without some experienced people being encouraging, they’d have never come back.

Quite the opposite. I said “if you’re town” and everything… the subtext is that you shouldn’t be the one calling somebody’s correct read on you dangerous. Because you should know it’s not dangerous, since it’s correct.

More to the point, why do you seem unconcerned with Byz’s or Neon’s alignment as a result of reading you town? And why is it that you only seem to develop this suspicion of me after a wagon forms? Assuming you aren’t simply mafia going with the flow, whose behavior is really influencing you here?

I fundamentally disagree with this. I call people’s reads on my town slot as town suspect all the time. The wolves have all the knowledge so it is dangerous to not point out when people are reading you town when you don’t see the reason behind it.

That’s not what Rumi did, though. Rumi actually specifically called Byz’s read “reasonable but dangerous,” then proceeded to spend the rest of the post describing how he could be getting deceived by Rumi—not how he could be buddying Rumi.

If Rumi had expressed suspicion of Byz for getting to the right answer with relatively little data, then I’d agree with you, but that’s not what Rumi did. Rumi instead suggested that Byz might have set himself up to be fooled. That’s mafia indicative to me, particularly for newer mafia players.

I don’t play much at all these days, but I’ve gotten to see a lot of new faces over the years. I would categorize your average newbie’s reactions to your read in three broad ways:

1. Suspicious of you that you got to the read as quickly as you did. Could be the mark of a savvy new player, but almost always the “right kind” of paranoia, and is overwhelmingly likely to come from town.

2. Happy to be townread. Not indicative; new players like being told they fit in, and it’s to their advantage regardless of alignment to get townread, so their reaction is similar.

3. Casting doubt on the read, but not on the read-giver. (Reader?) This is faintly mafia-indicative, but can also come from a new townie, so only faintly so.

So i joke voted eden earlier... the bot ignored me.

But catching up, here are mybeden thoughts.

A) he hasn't played in awhile.
B) Now back for this game. He hasn't thought through his game strategy... his joining was sudden, and without discussion. Still too busy?
C) perhaps he got mafia...
D) and now he's scrambling to choose a mask.
E) his initial vote and wave buh-bye was choosing playful, and maybe meant to be absent.
F) BUT that looks bad, and he couldn't resist discussing.
G) ongoing, he mixes argumentation, anger, lightness, and didactic.
H) i seem to see a teaminess with eden and ghug. Maybe because they are chummy on the Kouncil... and eden is still finding his feet here. Or maybe because they are scumchummy and eden is still finding those feet or masks or plan.
