Let’s focus on this unusual instrument. Hard to tell what one means by unusual.

Is it an instrument that one would NOT find in a standard orchestra (see Wikipedia page for “orchestra”, first paragraph, for what instruments those are), nor in a standard rock band (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard)?
