Kouncil Announcements

I.

The Kouncil has completed its review of M1021 and has assessed the following sanctions accordingly:

1. Jamiet99uk is banned for one game for violating the rule against personal attacks after multiple game-wide warnings on the matter were assessed. This ban will be served during the upcoming M74 and will be considered satisfied upon that game’s conclusion.

No other sanctions are issued at this time.

II.

After reviewing the standard rules and discussing them among ourselves, with feedback from members of the community, we have decided to revert a change we made in the participation requirements. Players will be required once again to post twice and vote once per day phase.

When we rewrote the standard rules earlier in the year, it was brought to our attention that the objective standard, which required two posts and one vote per day and which did not require any posting at night, did not appear to be achieving the result of compelling all players to meaningfully play the game.

In response, we did away with the objective standard and introduced a subjective requirement of “meaningful participation.” This was meant to give GMs and the Kouncil flexibility to handle players who may have consistently met the previous minimum but still had issues with flaking or otherwise not meaningfully playing the game.

We have completed the third game with this new standard, and what we’ve found is that the overall level of participation was unaffected, but that players were confused by what “meaningful participation” entailed, and would seek the sanction of other players who, in their minds with their ideas of “meaningful participation,” were not meaningfully participating in the game.

In essence, the new rule brought no meaningful positive change and added to players’ confusion and dissatisfaction, so we have reverted the rule.

III.

A Kouncilor (probably me, but not certain) will be posting a thread soon regarding the standard rules and accepting feedback on them and suggestions for improving them.

I personally, although without any authority, would not count a naked vote as a contributing post... but i would consider a vote added to an explanation to be both a post and a vote. Answering for a friend.
