i'm of the opinion that nothing macca did was alignment indicative, and would be hard for others to feel strongly enough about it to put them in any sort of pool. so to me there's close to nothing all around.

POE is 'not clearly town'. That's how people have been constructing their POEs this entire game, and they're been relatively open and clear with their reasoning. This post is perhaps the most clear recent example.

i think the context of day 1 makes it different. if what you're saying is true of TFB's post, why isn't rdr in the list? rdr isn't clearly town?

my guess is that people aren't thinking on that level, that scum's primary concern is just getting through the day without being linked together as having an objective. then at night one they can more actively plan this.

but i agree with you, my intentions for my scum game are not to do this, and to try and do what you said. but i don't think that's the natural inclination. (bozo is going to scumread me for this sentence)

scum win and lose as a team. having one bite the dust is not an issue if they gain more from it (townreads, passes, etc) than they lose from the vote and the person - therefore getting their teammates farther along, and thereby their team.

i have no idea what this second paragraph is trying to say.

i'm saying that your argument is right. that is the optimal strategy. that's what i would try and do. i don't think everyone realizes/enacts this, though. that's my theory.

Everyone else here except pyxxy has been scum at least once. People have had varying degrees of success but I don't believe anyone here would use a pattern like that on their first day. It's simply dumb for scum because it's completely obvious upon reread, like so.

TFB was scum. His primary objective in that post is to cause confusion, incidentally by raising rdr out of the scumpool. This works if rdr is town (like you said, he's not clearly town, so people will get paranoid about the POE) and if he's scum (because rdr can put in some effort and then just win)
