That's why you should not fake claim as town. Anyway, it doesn't hurt town as Maniac would be flipped and that's probably why everyone but Sabi accepted your claim.

Well here we go. This may make some of you rather cross with me, and for that I apologise.

I'm not an investigative PR and I didn't have a scan result on Maniac. I'm nothing more than a VT. I claimed a scan (but note I didn't say what role I was) at EoN 2 in an attempt to draw the NK and protect President Eden. I timed it at just about 4 minutes out, by my clock, although the Bot appears to indicate 3. I thought that was just enough time for Mafia to see it.

I named Maniac as my scan because I genuinely thought he was scum. It seems likely with his flip that I was wrong about that and, assuming that to be the case, once again I apologise.

Now, I assumed my claim would be questioned and that I'd be able to retract it (if I survived the NK) during the early part of D3. However, to my slight surprise, it appears my claim was widely believed, probably because I rarely fakeclaim as town. Several of you instantly jumped onto Maniac. His own response was lacklustre and I conf-biasedly assumed this to be the reaction of a caught scum trying to avoid collateral damage to his team, effectively signalling to them not to try to save him. When people started hammering I felt unable to retract because (a) I felt it likely you'd all jump onto me for faking, and (b) I thought this would also risk scum!Maniac escaping. I did try to keep open the option of moving onto GhugFlum, but nobody other than DemonRHK seemed to want to do that.

Perhaps I provided the real PRs with some cover, but otherwise I accept this was a pretty bad play. Sorry.

why? it worked out pretty well for what it was. we killed a legit POE member at any rate, and PRs lived another day

I rather we killed Maniac d3 without a fake scan but it's fair that eden lived another day.

if you carefully examine potential town and mafia motivations for the claims, you’ll realize that it doesn’t actually matter whether any of the claims themselves are true, these claims come from townies in the vast majority of cases.
