Alright im gonna go hide from the game thread again for a while and hope this pressure on me disappears because of how much ive added to the game.

Question for the class:

If someone says they are going to be an asshole this game and make it unenjoyable for anyone and if we have a problem we should suck it, is this anti-town?

pre the game though I did think that if I was mafia I would try and stoke the flames on the more personal arguments to obfuscate discussion, so this reads as potentially bad to me. yeah someone being miserable is anti-town, but calling attention to it and making the problem worse doesn’t help either. Again, though, I feel like this could be a thought you have in general

Right that’s fair, the main worry I have coming into this game though is that it will devolve into a similar style of argument as was in sign up thread. So personally I think the best course of action is to ignore that sort of issue as much as possible and try and focus as much energy elsewhere, but I understand that that may be easier for me than others

yea I was thinking it might have been M63, which was a bit over a year ago. was wondering if you had played mafia more recently elsewhere, which would weaken my argument (that you seem like rusty mafia trying to find your footing) a bit.

Then when I left you said I ducked your pressure but based on your post you seemed pretty wishy washy on how you felt about pressuring me so I didnt feel very pressured by the post.

But I digress, snowys comment about me inevitably catching sabi and changing my mind bothered me in that moment because I had already decided sabi needed to be studied right away this game.

my concern was less about your intended focus/target, and more about the manner in which you approached it. which I recognize isn’t something you can actually defend against, but whatever.

And I decided he was just trying to troll me. rather than getting annoyed I decided that id just laugh it off and go play civ 6 and enjoy my night. played civ 6 from 5-1130 pm and checked game thread a few times.

off-topic but there are civ 6 games a few nights a week in my Discord if you’re interested. I’ll get you the link or someone can if that sounds like your thing.

My assessment of ghug is he is actually noticing things: he notices when flyingboat claims kaka is being too scummy to be scum and asks tfb what has been scummy about kak.

I agree with this as a description of his play, but I don’t see where this is alignment-indicative; mind elaborating?

Ironically enough DemonRHK tends to enter games with song lyrics and shitposting in every game regardless of alignment from what I recall.

yeah could indicate a lack of stress and thus town-ish. haven’t microanalyzed anything there because the read it would give is prob not super telling. and also I am hungover

suffice it to say that I dont feel that the effort someone puts into shitposting or memeing early game has anything relevant to say about their alignment. Some of Vecna's most effortful early game MSpaint images where he legit hand made images and uploaded them to giphy -- all those games vecna was town.

The shitposting isnt what should be a concern since it becomes inexcusable and irrelevant fast, basically you are flipping a coin on most of these players anyway day 1.

you are just vaguely aping things other people have said and blatantly distorting what has been said by people you don’t like and slapping “town” and “anti-town” onto “things I like” and “things I dislike” respectively. there is no objective process, no theoretical underpinning behind why certain behaviors might come from town or mafia, no effort to engage with what people are doing beyond a surface level acknowledgment that it is happening. which I guess is sadly par for the course for webdip towns.

If you had framed your whole argument around Maniac, Kakarrotto and DemonRHK have all shitposted and I think one of them is scum so Im gonna just guess its DemonRHK Id probably nod along in agreement that picking one of three people doing nothing but shitpost is a good way to narrow down unhelpful people.

Maniac is too early to tell if hes town or opportunistic scum who wants to troll his way through day 1. I really dont know the answer to that because he is unique.

DemonRHK is excited to be playing based on his shitposts and he likes the flavour. Which is probably a good thing. So maybe thats even a townlean.

Kak is pretty much always scum every game. And the only hope he would have of surviving another game as scum is to just hope everyone keeps saying nah he wouldnt be scum again for a 4th time in a row. I suspect that his random posts are him just enjoying the theme of the game and the flavour. I dont know if that could even remotely mean he is towny however. And the reason i dont know is because kakarrotto is even more confusing to me than maniac or RHK.

Regarding Jamie, I think his actions far more scream someone who is frustrated than someone who doesn't want to play mafia. If he didn't want to play mafia, he could just not play mafia.

I dunno his whole tantrum and dragging unnecessary drama and shit into both signs up and this game screams someone doesn't want to play mafia. He could have used this game as a breather.
