idk they're pretty great but they're not the *best.* Labs and huskies are amazing. Retrievers are fun and sweet. Huge fan of shepherds, pitties and border collies. Mutts are the best though.

The problem i have is if he declared when he did it avoid a kill knowing he would not be on again before EOD why not reveal in case he got zapped?

If we assume he's the cop, I think he thought his crumbs were more obvious than they were (this is a pattern with Maniac, see also his confidence that you and Jamie would have picked up on the cop crumb itself).
