Interlude


Ksenia walked through the long hallway. Her servant, Pavel, followed, struggling to keep her quick pace. She walked past two guards coming from the other direction and smiled as they hurried past her, their eyes refusing to meet her own.

The Lady of Power they called her – and she embraced it.

“How many are ready?” she asked Pavel.

“A little over three hundred.”

“Good,” she replied. “And what do the birth numbers looks like?"

“Six hundred so far this month. Any more and we will struggle to feed them.”

“Good. Let me worry about that,” she said as she rounded the corner and headed deeper into the heart of the building. Faint sounds of footsteps, and metal striking metal got louder and louder as they approached a large doorway. Inside hundreds of young men and women skirmished and drilled, the sounds of sparring and the smell of sweat filled the air. One of the young men became aware of her presence and quickly took a knee and bowed his head. Several others followed.

“Stop, stop. No need for that,” Ksenia said, smiling. None of the men or women actually stopped, which made Ksenia’s smile more genuine, though they did rise off of their knees.

“You are the pride and joy of the Empire. You have trained and fought to become the best of the best! Know that I will always appreciate what you have given…and know that you will indeed, ALWAYS be the most fearsome warriors in our lands…”

Ksenia focused her mind and found the nowhere in an instant. She pushed her mind and the room was suddenly full of soldiers – hundreds- the bright blue casting new shadows. The men and women looked confused - some scared. She directed the soldiers forward with her mind. Willed them to rush forward and subdue the trainees. It was over in an instant. They were too confused to react quickly to her Echoes, and she had manifested two for every man and woman in the room. Her Echoes pinned them down, holding them in place.

“I hate this,” Pavel said solemnly.

“You are weak,” Ksenia snarled. “Greatness always requires sacrifice. These soldiers will become eternal…”

Ksenia took out a knife and began slitting the throats of every man and woman in the room. With each death, she could feel a new presence within the nowhere in her mind...

The fact that it's this bad should lead you to the opposite conclusion, HR. My scum performances have usually been pretty good. The fact that I was counter-wagon to Vecna and Vecna voted me (there's only one scum other than GF alive) should pretty much clear me. Cop, scan me tonight to prove I'm not the goon. There's no reason the roleblocker would try to push the vote on the GF.

That all being said, good job to everyone except me. I'm easily LVT - least valuable townie here. Frankly surprised Durga would go that far protecting Fox off the bat, tbh.

Vecna. His vote at 0:25 after absolutely zero ground work to have an excuse to vote for me at any point in the day was a pretty clear attempt to make it him vs me and cut gold out of the running - Gold only became a wagon option again because of ghug & Bona ignoring it.
