Chp. 6
“Who is he?” Evelyn asked
“He is a spy. He joined our ranks six months ago, but he was feeding information back to the empire,” replied Mara.
“What are you going to do with him?”
“Me? Nothing. I’ve already gotten the answers I need. You, however, are going to kill him,” Mara said flatly.
“Kill him?” Evelyn stammered. “Why can’t we keep him locked somewhere? Like in a dungeon.”
“Because he deserves worse than that…and because you said you wanted to learn from me. Remember the soldiers that Kasia created? They are called Echoes. I can show you how to manifest your own Echoes, but first you must kill this traitor.”
“You won’t teach me unless I do your dirty work?” Evelyn asked. “I thought you people were…”
“Child,” Mara interrupted, “You must do this not out of cold blood, but because you cannot make an Echo without it. Those soldiers that Kasia manifested? Soldiers that she killed. Echoes are the souls of the lives you have taken. You cannot manifest any others.”
Mara glowed blue, her eyes closed, and several large dogs appeared beside her, the now familiar dark blue smoke rising off of them. Evelyn could tell they were barking, but no sound came from their mouths.
“Close your eyes and focus your mind. Just like when you push and pull objects, but this time seek deeper inside yourself - as deep as your mind can fathom.”
Evelyn focused. She blocked out her senses and slowed her breathing. She searched her mind, trying to find that empty space which had become familiar with practice. She found it easily and sat there comfortably.
“Deeper” she heard Mara continuing to insist.
Evelyn focused even further, and she felt something. A small light twinkling in this nowhere in her mind, maybe in her soul. She focused on the light and felt its energy. The light grew until she could tell it was actually moving - it was alive. She strained her mind and the light grew. She could now make out figures within the light. Flies, worms, a chipmunk all moving about in the nowhere in her mind.
“Evelyn,” a voice interjected.
Evelyn opened her eyes. She was drenched in sweat and at some point had fallen to her knees. She looked around, and next to her was a single fly, swirling in the air around her head. She could feel the fly in her mind somewhere. She willed it to speed up, slow down, rise and fall and it obeyed. It was as simple as pushing and pulling the spoon on her father’s table. She had done it!
Mara took a step towards her and clapped her hands together, the fly caught between disappeared into blue and evaporated into the air leaving nothing.
“Why did you do that!” Evelyn shouted.
Mara pulled a short sword from a sheath on her side and handed it to Evelyn.
“Because flies don’t win wars. Soldiers do.”
Evelyn took the sword, surprised by its weight, glanced towards the spy hogtied across the room and took a small step towards him…

Hahaha, yeah.
Classic Durga scum-tell. She's done a vanishing act as scum before - I guess in the hope that her absence will cause the wagon to just drift apart.
Good progress, team.

Re: M72 - “Echoes of Evelyn” - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
My thoughts on this are that maybe the mafia team is like, toxic or just otherwise didn’t inspire her to try at all? Can’t imagine she gives up like that if paired with kgray or ghug, TFB, or even to a lesser extent HR? Or maybe HR is a power role so she accepted defeat so he wouldn’t be the alternate?
Hmmm

2 down, we should start being able to make some real progress on connecting the dots and VCA now.

She was clearly playing earlier and probably decided she didn’t want to implicate any teammates. Stop being rudedamo666 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 1:09 amThen why play?
