I’m just kind of befuddled by it because obviously everyone here is on a diplomacy site, so they have an intense interest in strategy. beyond that, they’re signing up for a mafia game and so have even more interest in the social deception side of things. so it’s just hard for me to imagine that people would have these stark differences they can’t correct. was this difference never mentioned before; is he unaware of it? Is it just that I’m overestimating how much some people think about this? Lol. Or do people flip their behaviors decently regularly?

It’s hard to say, certainly people will try to replicate their town game when they’re scum. Some are good at it, some not as much. I’m not sure about maniac specifically and whether he knows this opinion that I (and ghug apparently) have of him. In that game I’m referring to where he was scum I didn’t notice this and afaik nobody brought it up then. I don’t think he’s been scum since, so I think there’s a good chance it’s a reliable tell.

No, this is a fair concern.

Usually it's either that someone's just so fucking free with it as town (Maniac, for example) that they can't really replicate it as scum, but you've also got people who just get more invested in one alignment than the other (Chaqa as scum and celaph as town, to give examples of people you know). Beyond that, meta reads get more shaky, and you're bound to be wrong on solve of the ones that seem more clear cute, but it's also a long-ass time to keep up a facade if you're also trying to achieve strategic goals.

Yeah my voting looks sketchy but I’ve pulled out my ‘How to play Scum’ handbook and it says keep going, make it appear like you’re analysising stuff and working hard and find an easy miskill. I’ve chosen TBF as my easy miskill. I’ve decided to lay out in detail that TBF could be scum or town and hope someone picks up that he’ll be a good info kill. I’ll then jump on his wagon and survive another day. Luckily I’m really good at this and most other players can be easily manipulated so my money is on surviving at least another day. Oh btw Damo666 and Goldfinger are my teammates, you’ll have to figure the last one out.
