Blamp is towncore, I doubt a new player, even one with this much survivor experience, would be this towny and, more importantly, coherent and self-consistent as scum.

This is terrible reasoning. I don't think it is entirely fair to say that blamp is inexperienced and that the survivor doesn't translate over, because clearly blamp is acting like a reasonably experienced player, so saying that he can't be scum is really just not true. Blamp is towny but nowhere near towncore or even a strong townread because we don't know how he'd be playing this as scum

I thought for a set of N objects where the objects are either in set m(afia) or set not m(afia), you are pulling n distinct items from the set of N objects, and that in the set of n pulled items there are k items that belong to the set m, the probability of pulling EXACTLY k items out of the n items you pulled from set N is P(X = k) = ((mCk)*((N-m)C(n-k)))/(NCn). Now I am very rusty at combinatorics, admittedly, so I could be wrong, but I think I am right and I definitely meant to omit at least.

What’s interesting about this lie is that Bill avoids using the contraction ‘didn’t’ and also that he refers to Monica Lewinsky as ‘that woman’. Both of these are signs of lying. As with all verbal tells they aren’t 100% accurate of course but could be interesting none the less. The explanation of why people avoid contractions is because liars want to seem honest and precise. They think ‘did not’ sounds more convincing that ‘didn’t’.

So does this tell apply to mafia? I don’t know. Some people always avoid contractions and others may not have English as a first language. To really dig deep we’d have to establish what every player’s speech/typing pattern is when they’re town and then see if there is a change when they’re scum.

But just for my amusement I’ve been reading some D2 posts and picking out a few avoided contractions. Here are some examples…

But yes let me explain my read on Foxcastle.

Let's break down his iso. Only 16 posts so not a lengthy task:

- After pointing out the bot error, he starts complaining about the poor quality of the early shitposting. Durga asked him about this and he made a long rambling bloviating post about serotonin levels. Real "look at me and my extensive vocabulary" stuff.

- I jokingly suggest he should go on Joe Rogan's podcast (where people often talk in that self-satisfied pseudo-intellectual manner) and he sarcastically encourages me.

- He predicts that Durga will want to kill a lurker.

- Similar sarcastic encouragement towards BobMcBob.

- Claims to assume the votes on DeathLlama would be "joke votes" but notes that the people on the wagon take things seriously (implying their votes are sincere; I know mine was). Also thinks that all the votes on Durga are joke votes.

- Provides some simple points of advice to Clamp.

- Suggests he finds Bob and Bona hard to read.

- Durga responds to his comment about how the votes on DeathLlama were not joke votes. Fox replies "I didn't mean you, obviously". This is a bit odd as it implies that Foxcastle thinks Durga was joke-voting.

- Says "I like how Lamp thinks" in response to Clamp asking if "cool" means "town" in the context of Bob saying "bona is cool".

- Challenges Bob to update his view on DeathLlama "now that DL is back". Note that, at the time Foxcastle said this, DeathLlama had indicated "just got off a plane" but had not actually contributed any more.

- Engages in a short nit-picking argument with Kgray about whether he was "looking for laughs".

So let's summarise the weight of these posts:

1. He is very dismissive of the DeathLlama wagon, and when DL shows up he seems very keen for people to re-evaluate their DL votes, even before DL has said anything useful.

2. He predicts that Durga will want to kill lurkers, yet when Durga does vote for a lurker (DeathLlama), he implies Durga was joke voting.

3. He repeatedly offers help and support to Clamp.

4. His other posts are composed mostly of sarcasm and bloviating.

This does NOT remind me of Town!Foxcastle earnestly looking for scum and trying to solve the game. Zero scumhunting is evidenced from these posts.

This DOES remind me of Scum!Foxcastle trying to appear present and active without doing much, lowkey defending a lurker (team mate?) and lowkey buddying the newbie.

Conclusion: I think Foxcastle is scum.

For @vecna this is how and where the case began. Important to note that while DL was town it is important to note a) that Fox could only know that if he were scum and b) that jamie is correct to point out this forceful defense came before DL justified any such defense.

As for you, I feel you're a really strong player, but your reread seems pretty poor and low-effort and your posting just doesn't give me the vibe of vecna making good reads and trying to solve.

Im not going to respond to the Fox parts, because I have no way of knowing what he was thinking or why he did those things (other than knowing it was some outcome of a towny mindset).

Anyways, correct me if im wrong, but the only game we played together I was scum or 3P, no?

I remember me buddying you that entire game and you didnt suspect me a single time.

So what is this based on? Why elevate my towngame that I dont think you've ever experienced?

(also, I literally admitted my play this game would be low effort, and im doing the best I can with the time I have available. I get that some people want something more out of this slot since it replaced out in a "compromised" position where people were somewhat concerned, but this is what I can provide.
