GM NOTES:

1. This will be the first full Mafia game after QuickTopic closed down. We will therefore be using Discord for both Mafia chat areas, and for the "God Thread" where non-participants and dead players may converse outside of the game.

2. Chaqa has agreed to act as my "Discord GM" and will be assisting me in setting up and running the Discord chats, etc, to enable the above to run smoothly. I am grateful to him for this support.

3. Where the rules / setup calls for players to submit orders, note that this says "to both GMs" and therefore please make sure you do send a message to both myself, and to Chaqa. Your actions should be submitted as PMs here on WebDiplomacy, copying both of us in. If you only message one of us, and there is any issue processing your orders, that'll be your fault.

4. Sign-ups will close tonight at 11pm GMT (in just over 3 hours), so that I can prepare to do the role draw in good time and liaise with my Discord GM to get the game launched tomorrow. Anyone else who wants to sign up, please do so now!

Therefore to mitigate this, EVERY player, even those who are just VTs, will be sent a link to the Discord server, and EVERY player will be REQUIRED to join that server, even if you have no particular requirement to interact with the Discord server thereafter.

Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, just one of the issues as we get used to trying out Discord. If it proves too much of a nuisance, hopefully a different solution can be found. This game is a guinea pig, so please show myself and Chaqa some leeway if you can while we work all this out.

It's possible we decide the separate Discord server is too much and use the main WebDip Mafia discord for games going forward, but we decided to trial this and see how it went. I don't think asking players to click a few times and join the server is too much of an ask, but if we find it's an impediment to overall gameplay, we can try some other things.
