You're only the second person I've ever found who has played it (outside of Fire Emblem forums)

FF5 is my favorite FF

I won't call it the best (I think FF6 takes that mark) but I never catch myself replaying an FF quite like I do 5

I couldn't even tell you why really, I think on paper it should be behind some others, but it just does everything it set out to do perfectly

Fire Emblem 4 - best story/best music
Fire Emblem 5 - most interesting gameplay even if it was broken. 2nd fave
Fire Emblem 6 - best gameplay
Fire Emblem 7 - best characters
Fire Emblem 8 - personal favourite but understand why people don't like it. Best villains and superb pacing imo.
Fire Emblem 9-10 - Most epic
Marth games - decent and fun, but outclassed at this point

I enjoyed all the Fire Emblem games until Awakening and then I wanted nothing to do with them. (I even got the Japanese exclusive ones, Fire Emblem 4 is basically Game of Thrones and it's story was insane for it's time. I really enjoyed it)

3H looks like it might actually be good though.

Awakening is one of my most hated games. The fact everyone says Awakening is great is a big part why I do not trust Chrono Trigger will get better.

I hate Fates more, but Awakening is close 2nd lol

Yeah, I understand Awakening literally revived the franchise and the old style wasn't going to work anymore.
But I have no interest in dating the characters as a self insert avatar.

I could even handle dating them if every single scene felt like the characters turning to me, the player, and saying "Do you want to Fuck me?" It's bad enough with the main cast, but when they're 11 years old, I just couldn't.

5-prerry great gameplay and story. But also can be really tough if you don't just accept deaths
6-Really great, hard mode is super fun

Oh no I actually misread and was talking about the FF games

The only Japanese-exclusive one I played was FE6 thanks to fan translations. I stopped somewhere in the middle of Shadow Dragon.

Of the ones I played, 9 > 8 > 7 > 6 > 10 > Shadow Dragon.
Think all your descriptions of the ones I played match up, though I quite liked FE8's branching promotions, and felt like it had the most memorable challenging moments (though this is likely tinged by it being my first one).
