Otherwise, why would the Mafia team agree to signal to Bozo that one of them had a (fake) cop scan on Ghug, and then in the same phase, shoot and kill Ghug to reveal that Ghug was not "guilty" at all.

That does not make any sense, so Bozo must be assuming that a townie shot Ghug.

Regarding the steak, I’m surprised there’s so much assumption that town could/should not hipfire. It has two shots, and the wielder might be worried about it falling into nefarious hands.

Regarding Macca’s salad, I’m willing to believe this is Mafia trying to set Macca up for now, but it could just as easily be a townie who is convinced Macca is scum and is pushing on them this way.

This game is beautifully balanced because claims are massively, massively disincentivized because of the steal and copy mechanics and the 3P. Very surprised Bob and snowy advocating for claims because it’s so antitown.

There is only one shot, not two, so there is no reason for town not to announce the shot, since it is not a 3P item.

This does indeed appear to be an inconsistent view from bozo and I am interested in bozo’s full explanation of how he perceives the current claim info.

I already said that I think the mafia might have realized I did not believe the message when I did not bring it up at the beginning of the day. However, the shot could be from the 3P.

Wait wait, I'm just re-reading Bozo's claims. Here are three posts that are very significant when put together.

The mafia must have had the gun item.

I received a message N2 that must have come from a mafia member, so they must have the mail item.

The message claimed to have a guilty scan on ghug.

So, Bozo, let's just get this straight.

You think that the Mafia had both the Steak and the Napkins, and they decided to send you a message claiming a fake guilty scan on Ghug, and then immediately after sending you this message, they also shot Ghug, revealing that the information in the message was false.

What possible reason would the scum team have for sending you a message and then immediately taking an action that invalidated the claim in that message?

I brought up one possible reason. Another is that with no NK, there was no way I would think that cop was not around to make the claim directly.

I was thinking (dangerous as it is), and it's strange to me that 1) ghug was shot before bozo mentioned the letter and 2) Bozo waited that long to mention it.

2) aside, what 1) says is that these events were independent. Mafia goes to frame ghug with the napkin, but 3p (because yes, they can start with steak) kills him for his item (which they presumably knew thanks to their scan). Why not take the item in the night? Maybe there was someone else better to steal from.

I waited until after ghug was shot because that is when I knew for certain that the message did not come from town.

Therefore either

The NKer was RB'd by town blocker
The NK target was 3p
Scum held their kill.

I think we can safely rule out the third and of the other 2 I think the 3p target much the likelier.

I think this does point to a 3p Maniac.

According to the role description: "The target will only be informed if they were saved from an attack." This sounds like you should not have received any message if you were not saved, but maybe you did because you used it on yourself.
