The speaker scratches and squeaks.

“ssssssss… your attention, please, foolish ones.”

A window opens and the small parrot flitter-fluts in… weighed down with a canvas bag filled with… hmmm… something.

“Voting again. You falsely noble nincompoops. When has democracy EVER worked in the long haul?”

The parrot lands in front of one of the detectives.

“You seem to think that truth is determined by democratic process.”

The parrot opens the bag. Not easy, with a beak and no hands.

“Does the weather change by public opinion? Does a good book become bad just because people shout loudly? Would foodcoats come back to life because you all WANT it to happen? No… no… no…”

The parrot takes out a pair of dark glasses.

“Each of you need to put on a pair of these parrot-brought dark glasses. You do not get to select which one you like best. Take the one the parrot gives you. You’ll need it.”

The parrot passes out pairs of glasses… to each of the detectives.

Wisely, the detectives put on the dark glasses.

“Now… a SUNBright light will blast this room. ONE of you… the one VOTED for… has been given fake dark glasses. They will not protect you. And the light will burn through your eyes to your pitiful excuse for a brain. The brain won’t explode like last time. THIS time it will boil.”

The voice seems to smile… in an evil sort of way.

And then with a light so bright you can almost hear it, smell it, taste it, and touch it… the room becomes deadly.

Macca tries to cover their eyes.
But it does not work.

The light bores through Macca’s eyes, through Macca’s ears, through Macca’s skin, through Macca’s nose, and most importantly, through Macca’s eyes.

And Macca’s brain boils.

So does all of Macca’s skin. And as the skin boils away, with a light so bright you can see it THROUGH the dark glasses, words appear etched into Macca’s bones.

“This one was scum.” It seems to say.

The detectives cheer. FINALLY. They were SO sure, of course.

Some of them so sure, in fact, that their sureness altered the nanobites in the dark glasses and made them THINK it said Macca was scum. Their surety altered their perceptions.

They were not, however, seeing reality.

When everyone removes their dark, nano-powered glasses… they see that the bone-writing says,

“THIS ONE WAS NOT SCUM.”

Frustrating. Sorry Macca, it must have been even more frustrating to be on the receiving end.

Chaqa is probably mafia. I don't know what that means for Jamie. But the ineffectual sideline action from him is too much. Since Jamie wasn't actually claiming n1 rose, Chaqa could easily have taken that shot as mafia and been upfront about what he was doing - finding a townie that people were okay with flipping and taking a shot.

I don't think any of damo, snowy, brainbomb, Johnny, or Hamilton are mafia. I stand by my belief that emc isn't doing anything out of his usual town range, but I am kinda getting sick of his alignment suddenly becoming the most important thing in the world at every EOD. If emc and damo both think Jamie is town then they're probably right.

Seems like ghug disappeared as soon as I quit suspecting him. Maybe I let him off too easy for pushing back on me. He's not really playing outside his typical mafia range, taking the whole of his play.

And I'm still not sure what to make of rivera and worcej.

What you seems to ignore not sure exactly why is that emc behavior isn't out of his town behavior but it's also not out of his scum behavior, he had done it before as both alignments, so townreading him because of it is a mistake.

Also, why scum Chaqa would come back at EOD and try to stir the pot with two towns on the block (from your POV, emc is town)?

What I think now? That you are either playing your worst game as town or you are scum.
