Discord Group For The Moderators
Discord Group For The Moderators
I heard in a number of threads that there is a discord group to talk to the moderators (e.g. I remember Durga mentioning it)...as well as by email. Is it possible for me to join that group?
Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
I believe it's a group of members which also happens to harbour some mods. Either way, I wasn't invited.

Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
[email protected] is the right place to contact the moderators. If for some reason an email is not possible then google hangouts to the same address also works, but is not preferred.
There is a diplomacy discord ran by a member, that some mods are in, but it is not a reliable way to contact the team, I personally check it about once a month to give a good indication of how long you might wait for an answer there.

You should harass them on discord via the mafia discord group. Everyone is invited

Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
Please use the emails to contact the moderators. The discord channel is for me to complain that nobody in the gunboat tournament replies to my messages and to post pictures of food and my baby.
Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
Emails are usually quickly replied, even if I hate mods for canceling the games I like, I like their this side. When you ask something, answer comes in half an hour.

Could you share the mods cellphone numbers in case there’s a time sensitive issue? It’ll help for those middle of the night problems that arise.

Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
Edited to remove this so we don't start having members calling some random suckers number asking for mods or signing them up for catfacts.

Stop censoring me omg I'm just giving the people what they want

Have you tried emailing us during the 'night'? That's when I'm on duty! As long as it's not about a tournament I'm in.VillageIdiot wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 2:23 amCould you share the mods cellphone numbers in case there’s a time sensitive issue? Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
I started this thread because I did have an issue which I am very sensitive to (a "site leaving" event for me if not resolved)...and I was getting hedgy responses from the moderators making it appear like my concerns were not being taken seriously. I know that some members have better access to mods than others (either through discord as Durga had previously indicated, other websites or personal friendships) so I was hoping for a possibility to talk it out to make sure I understood correctly.
I can understand the reasons for being so hedgy (to provide most flexibility in solving similar problems in the future), especially since I know that sometimes the mods can be in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Even though I didn't get a response indicating that any explicit action was taken, it looks like my issue has been resolved for now and I thank whoever actually did resolve it which was the most important thing. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about it, of course...
Still haven't seen any resolution to my other issue raised several weeks ago (I have never NMR'd but the site says i did once - grumble, grumble).

Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
I checked your NMR and I don't understand why you have one. That said, I cannot remove it from your profile. Unless I missed something here, we apologise for the inconvenience.
Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
Yeah, I remember you reporting that to me, and I'm still unclear why it happened. We'll look into actually getting rid of it for you, but the database is a bit of a beast.
Re: Discord Group For The Moderators
Thanks very much! If I took a look and figured out the SQL request (or requests) myself would that be useful? It can't be as hard as changing someone's id for example (I assume the username instead of a surrogate key was used as the PK, making it hard to change).
There is no docker image with the latest code, is there (we do this at work to allow easy testing)? That would make it really quick to spin up a quick image, make an NMR, delete the NMR using SQL and make sure everything looks good. I am looking at the developer docs and I don't even see a specific suggested Unix flavour and version.

ATC spent some time creating a docker a while ago. I'm not sure off the top of my head if it's current or functional, but you can take a look here:
https://github.com/TimothyJones/webDiplomacy-dev-docker
I feel like our old server ran Debian. Not sure about the new one. I've set up test servers from scratch on Ubuntu and Windows (lord forgive me) before. I think it's fairly platform agnostic.

OK, it has a couple of glitches (he doesn't mention that you need to have your ssh keys setup to download the submodule, and for some reason I get a permission error the first time I run ./start-server.sh but the second time is fine).
I see to register new users you need to use email validation. Is there a way around that?
