Re: Travel Destinations
There are a lot of places. Personally I loved Summer in Scandinavia, Scotland and Ireland (cold weather lover, yeah...).
I've never been there, and maybe this is not the best moment to go there, but a friend of mine actually told me Iran is fantastic. Huge history, lots of fantastic palaces and mosques, great food and the people are fantastic there, friendly and very open-minded. At least, that's what I've been told

Madrid was great. Seville was amazing. I was there for part of Holy Week last year, which was fascinating. But I need to go back and see it when it's not a festival. The Algarve of Portugal (Tavira specifically) was also very nice.
Re: Travel Destinations
I have a special place in my heart for Madrid and Malaga- Spain in general tbh

Spain is awesome. I’d love to go back but I feel I should go to new places first. . I had a great time there, though I didn’t make it down to Madrid. I was in the Basque Country.

Re: Travel Destinations
In terms of interesting places, I really enjoyed Ethiopia and Bolivia. I did some awesome trekking in Ethiopia and enjoyed discovering about the extent of outside influences they had there. Was not expecting to see a European style castle there. Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia was this amazing surreal mixture of the old west and Mars. At times the landscape felt like i was trapped in a Dr.Suess book as i visited pink lakes filled with flamingos high up in the Andes and 'islands' of cacti in the middle of never ending salt flats. Experience of a lifetime.
I've enjoyed China a lot, but my wife is originally from there so i have the advantage of a personal interpreter/guide. I've known others who have traveled to China solo and had a harder time and don't look back nearly as fondly as i do.
My all time favourite destination however was the Galapagos Islands, that place probably speaks for itself. Vietnam and Bali both also rank fairly high on my list as well.

Canada is amazing, best scenery in the entire world, I was completely shocked at the beauty delivered by Canadian nature, the people are also balanced, not too reserved but also not so much in your face, that place is so stunning it can cure depression, however I looked at housing prices 250.000 Canadian dollars???? Are you shitting me? You have to pay for that property at least 15 years
until you can fully enjoy it
At least, US is more affordable with property prices varying from 40.000 to 80.000 dollars in suburbs.
Interested in visiting South America, because I think I would fit in and love their culture

Re: Travel Destinations
Haha try living Sydney if you think that is expensive - you can't buy a decent house in the Sydney burbs for less than $1M AUD
Re: Travel Destinations
15 years? Here we pay our mortgages for 30 years. €200.000 for a decent house in the suburbs of a small city.
Re: Travel Destinations
Best place I've ever been is surely Cambodia. Angkor is really unique.
I liked a lot also Norway. I've been there in August, lushly green, waterfalls everywhere, and the fjords are wonderful.

The Bude Tunnel is something everyone should visit at least once in their life.

Re: Travel Destinations
Kansas: Three things, (in addition to broad long straight highways...)
a) The world's second largest ball of twine.
b) The world's deepest hand dug well.
c) The world's largest concrete gopher. The rancher who made a Menagerie of concrete animals (including the gopher) charged a small fee to stop off from the highway and stroll amongst the critters. The next year, nearly no one came. The ranger figured out that visitors found that they could see the gopher from the highway! So he built ALSO the world's largest plywood wall. Two great relics at ONE stop.
Kansas... because.

The Daneway dread portal by Sapperton is a nice place to go for a picnic. There's something about the way it stretches into the eternal dark that captures the imagination. And the many people who died within add to the atmosphere of the place.

I like old threads. You read through the usual gibberish, and suddenly come across someone who's making a remarkable amount of sense. Then you look over to find out who it is, and it turns out to be you. It really restores your faith in yourself.

Re: Travel Destinations
What was so special about Malaga? I have a brother (wife and three boys) in Cartagena Spain (Mediterranean view from their terrace) that I’ve visited a few times, we made it to Granada, but Malaga wouldn’t be much farther, maybe we’ll head that way next time... Just saw him and his family over Memorial Day Weekend in San Francisco, not sure when we’ll meet up again, but I’ll get back there one day, a few ideas of where to explore can’t hurt...
