I was Kenya in a recent world game and finally missed a deadline on accident, sorry guys. I knew it was going to happen at some point! I wish the African Triumvirate good luck, we held really really well.

Re: Missed Deadline in "Funny", thanks for the game, guys
I'm literally still thinking about this and am super sad. My partner is even consoling me.

A 2day/phase game and I replaced Kenya before the game even had a first turn...months of time. No second chance for me because I was the replacement! Is there a way to give replacements a grace skip too? I don't know, I should have set a timer or something so I didn't miss a day.
Basically at this point I'm just posting because I want the person who was playing Ghana to see this and know that I'm so sorry. And I'm really sad that I left too. Because that was not the goal.won't clutter forum anymore bye

This is a difficult question that had been asked many times already.
On the one hand, it would be fair for replacement players to have excuses too. They're human and could miss a deadline.
On the other hand, the original players have already dealt with delays! This is very frustrating and we've decided to skew the system in their favour.
It could indeed be optimal to have replacements earn excuses over time, but that has not been programmed. I think it may be hard to implement in practice.

If no one still replaced you, and as long as you aren't temporarily banned for missing too many turns, you can simply rejoin the game

I agree - having a player miss a phase in a 2day game is *quite* frustrating to deal with...maybe a half turn length is more appropriate grace if it's a long one? Or "earning" would be great, but also probably annoying to implement.

So, it turns out moderators are even more amazing than previously known, and the replacement player was also very kind, and I got to go back to the game. Thank you to all involved.
Got an alarm now so that I won't get sad again.
