MAYBE HE WAS NOT TRYING TO TIE IT. MAYBE HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO SAVE SENATOR EZIO FROM THE GALLOWS AND WAS MASQUERADING HIS ACTIONS AS ATTEMPTING TO TIE THE VOTE.

I think the advantage is town having a piece of information that Mafia already have and stop theorizing on what happened.

The disadvantage I see is Aliens will also get an information that they don't have and Mafia will have info about which PRs are on play if they still don't have (don't know what message they get when a NK fails).

I don't think there's any info if something fails. The only information that gets received is by the "target" that something happened to them. I think. But it's also role/PR-dependent.

The fog was not unusually thick. It reminded Mulder of his lack of clear vision. Shades and Shadows were all he could see.
