Treating a small scumteam as an sk is a bad approach to take because they have more than 1 vote and almost certainly have various special abilities that they can use to screw with town

Bunny, do you think the alien team is larger than the mafia team?

Their responses made it pretty clear.
Well, brain's response made it clear he was cool with you mason-reading him. Not sure that's exactly confirmation, coming from brain, king of fakeclaims lol
Demon was evading all my questions, and you're not denying it either
Why would I deny it? You didn't ask me if I was a mason with brain. You asked why brain, Demon, celaph and I were connected, and also noted a connection between me, Demon and ghug.

I felt like I'd explained this from my POV, but in summary: I have explained why I townread brain and Demon before EoD1, and I think our votes were synched up somewhat (although not as much as you made it appear) because we were all doing the same thing: trying out wagons with our townreads to see what felt best. I don't understand why you put celaph in this list, because I don't feel like I have any connection to celaph at all this game except starting his wagon. And ghug was clearly part of the large amounts of movement near EoD (as were you!) and with that many wagons coming and going, there are going to be people connected between them.

So do you think the scumteams are going after each other, since the town is going to be chasing its own tail the first few days?
I think they're going to be hunting each other, yes, but they still mostly just need to hang back and not die. Part of that also depends on how many are on each team, I think, but in general it's harder in this game to figure out who's faking it because they can still be "solving" but at the end of the day it's not their priority.
I pretty strongly disagree with this. Since it's day 2 I feel more comfortable talking about optimal scumplay since they've already been able to talk in their QT.

I think they absolutely should be at the forefront of scumhunting, leading the charge as much as possible on the other team.

It's normally a bad idea to scumhunt as scum b/c you have perfect information and it's very hard to look natural while doing it. It's very difficult to tunnel convincingly when you know you're talking out of your ass, for example. If you get caught with extra information, it's lights out.

In this game, scum have limited information. I believe they absolutely should be pushing as much as they possibly can as frequently as they possibly can because of how much easier it is. Their priority is obviously getting townread still, but scumhunting (and catching a scum) is probably the #1 way to get townread on this forum.

Since you're both around I have some fun information for y'all to play with.

I discarded the town's doctor.
What would you like me to do with this information?
I'd like to be very selfish and ask you to take a few minutes not responding to the most recent posts and think about what this says, given the current state of the game.

Should we push a 2nd lfischl wagon voter or a celaph voter today?
I don't really care about which category they come from, but I find the lfischl voters scummier in general.

Sorry what is this question? Are you asking me if I think we have (one scum team and a SK) or (two scum teams and a SK)?

If so, then I have no idea. How would I know this? Am I missing something?

I'm just speculating on how scum would act if there are two different factions.

You should. You love mechanical discussions at this stage in the game. You could also just glance through the role list.

There's probably only one town protective if you're telling the truth here. The only possible options are Loud Doc and Jailor. It kinda sucks that you did claim it.

Okay. I'm not entirely sure I agree with you. In games I've played, I think successful scum are typically those who hang back and watch.

But assuming you're right, what is your suggestion? That we hunt by looking for the most active hunters? Or are you saying we just have nothing to go off of until we get a scum flip?

Some thoughts on roles in play: Nobody claimed that they pitched the serial killer. This is too important for town to be sitting on. It strikes me that the mafia team is so small that if it exists they are effectively a serial killer.

So I suggest people start changing their mental attitudes of this game, because I expect the aliens did last night:

this game has
a town
a "mafia team" (the aliens) which cannot kill us
1-2 serial killers (the mafia and the actual serial killer)

I agree that optimal scum strat is to sit back and wait generally. I believe that is very different in this game with 2 scumteams. I believe general scumhunting strategy will still be largely effective and should continue to be used, because frankly I doubt most ppl are going to effectively turn on their scumhunting brain.

However, we need to be significantly more watchful of the people we townread largely for scumhunting who are also highly adept players. I believe we will not be able to catch them until we have a confirmed scum yes. We will need to see that these players missed some more obvious clues about their own potential teammate while digging through lots of posts trying to find the other team.

Alternatively, we can simply have our PR's scan ppl they normally might not due to the added difficulty of reading the increased posters.

This is more food for thought as we approach the later stages of the game (as the early game has so much noise anyways), but it's important you don't start building a house on shaky foundation. I felt this was a relatively fundamental assumption I thought was erroneous.
