I dont see much need to wish town luck, we control our own destiny if we actually have a system that isnt just chaotic noise
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
if all we got is luck then I dont think anyone can claim to be any good at this

The amount of posts isn't the issue, but rather that they make no claims that we can then use as follow up clues, aside from perhaps the whole damo business, but that only tells us about one person.Donny Dude wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:19 amYou agree their play looks scummy and he has 21 posts.Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:17 amWhy are we voting Macca? I agree that their play looks like scum, but they've been inactive and them getting voted off tells us much less than someone else.
I don't think that is inactive.
Why the concern about the activity?
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
Ah...so when we suspect someone we should let them live so they can lead us to others? Like cockroaches?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:43 amThe amount of posts isn't the issue, but rather that they make no claims that we can then use as follow up clues, aside from perhaps the whole damo business, but that only tells us about one person.Donny Dude wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:19 amYou agree their play looks scummy and he has 21 posts.Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:17 amWhy are we voting Macca? Im leaning town on you and donny, and I'm not sure that ghug is scum to be honest, and I may switch my vote sometime tommorow morning before EOD.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
Brain is also looking towny to me.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
So to summarize: your stated townleans are the three people who recently decided to push Macca.
And you no longer feel strongly about your vote on ghug.
And nobody else comes to mind.
And you are tired of playing Turkey and Austria and secretly suspect the RNG that the site uses is biased.

Kind of. Macca hasn't established solid relationships with a lot of people, so we only get a small amount of information about most people. Obviously, at some point we need to kill lurkers, but when we don't know anything we wanna find the roach nest first.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:51 amAh...so when we suspect someone we should let them live so they can lead us to others? You're not sure I'm scum, but you still suspect it? Why do you suspect me?
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
And do you think that anything they do from here on out will be revelatory if they are indeed scum?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:08 amKind of. Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
Because either they lurk and we policy kill them for no info (which is essentially giving up) or they talk and develop relationships, whereby we can figure out who is likely/unlikely to be scum or if they're actually town with a crappy d1.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:10 amAnd do you think that anything they do from here on out will be revelatory if they are indeed scum?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:08 amKind of. And do you think reading how others interacted with the dead is important?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:16 amBecause either they lurk and we policy kill them for no info (which is essentially giving up) or they talk and develop relationships, whereby we can figure out who is likely/unlikely to be scum or if they're actually town with a crappy d1.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:10 amAnd do you think that anything they do from here on out will be revelatory if they are indeed scum?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:08 am

How far would you take this: would you rather kill an active town with lots of interactions than a lurking scum?

1) Yeah, of course. This is basic strategy.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:18 amAnd do you think reading how others interacted with the dead is important?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:16 amBecause either they lurk and we policy kill them for no info (which is essentially giving up) or they talk and develop relationships, whereby we can figure out who is likely/unlikely to be scum or if they're actually town with a crappy d1.

2) I'm ignoring the bit about alignments since we obviously won't know alignments ahead of time short of PRs. If it was early game (say, <d3), probably the active person, since it gives us more info, but after that probably the lurker, since they're an active hinderance at that point.

Cop, Conspiracy Theorist, Jailor, Mason, Vigilante, Clairvoyant, although I haven't done a full readthrough of the roles yet.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
Did you vote for ghug for any reason besides thinking Vecna had a guilty scan on him?

it'd hurt, but I'd still be more in favor of it than a Macca, lfischl, or Ezio wagonbrainbomb wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:45 amand What if my role is on that list? am I still worth just sacrificing for vcaBonatogether wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:27 amCop, Conspiracy Theorist, Jailor, Mason, Vigilante, Clairvoyant, although I haven't done a full readthrough of the roles yet.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
I totally disagree that Macca should get a pass just because they don't have lots of connections and therefore aren't a good "info flip" (I hate info flips in general), but based on their previous games I think it will become more clear later on if they're scum. Bunny did make some good points about their meta. Not a bad wagon, but I'm not ready to push it.
I still feel like ghug is off, but I don't really want him to die yet and I very much dislike the other votes on his wagon.
I'm concerned by lfischl's unexplained scumread of ghug because it seems like he just jumped on ghug's wagon when Vecna gave him an excuse. Originally I was thinking that unless ghug is his teammate, if lfischl were scum he wouldn't believe Vecna's guilty claim and therefore wouldn't jump on so quickly. But, the multiple factions sort of negate that thinking. It feels in general like he's struggling to come up with believable reads, and since he's not a new player, I expect town!lfischl to at least be able to explain his vote.
