Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
1-2 were expected to not be dealt.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
if anyone else tossed a maf goon card theres no reason to avoid claiming it. I would say maf is all specialists then and there likely are no goons at all
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
I was hoping somebody would admit to discarding a nice maf role on principle of just preferring to be town

True, but I have to disagree, mech is an easy way for scum to blend in and gain credit without solving.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:06 pmAlright, then let me jump in. I'd be inclined to think that anyone spending the time deliberating on the mechanics, value of claiming, etc is most likely town. Of course, scum could use that discussion to steer us into claiming, but I'd like to think not this early. That could be me being misguided. Sharing after rereading lets me confirm or disconfirm my thinking without the hassle that I often run into during these games of saying one thing then immediately thinking, "NO, why did I write that. That's stupid."kgray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:46 pm
Why be evasive if it's just your gut reads? And giving explanations for reads is definitely worth the risk of scum using that to fake towniness. They're already doing that...
And most importantly, if you are withholding your reasons for your townreads so scum can't use them to blend in, why are you (1) saying you'll share more after rereading - that sounds like you're just deflecting - and (2) asking me to explain my townlean on Bob?
And I am interested in why you're reading Bob as town.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
I do prefer being town. That did make my discard of my non-town role easy.
Re: MAFIA 64 - The Z Files - Game Thread [HIDDEN]
I wonder if the excessive post fluffing if saying hi to everyone is scum indicative. We all had chances to say hi in pregame, maybe we can stop welcoming people and actually start the real talk.
this is a game about fucking killing people. this isnt some social experiment where we envision a perfect existence. this isnt about warm fuzzy feelings. its about taking a goddamn shovel and bashing evil people to death

On another note there were 42 cards dealt out of 68 so quite a few roles were not dealt. Nearly 40 %. So that is a lot of roles that no one got.
Just some very basic math.

I don't know, the miskill instead of daykill could mean something. Who are thinking about misskils?

If they desired, they could just claim they discarded the role they actually chose, and it wouldn't look any different from a town claiming a discard. (Once again, I would rather talk about this later when bozo comes along with a long speech about how it narrows the miskill pool, confirms 50-70% of scum roles in play with 80-90% certainty and outs at least one guaranteed scum or something like that).

I've literally done this as town in a previous game, it means nothing.rdrivera2005 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:43 pmI don't know, the miskill instead of daykill could mean something. Who are thinking about misskils?

Jasnah and I have claimed. You haven'tBunnyGo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:16 pmYes, this felt different with bona. When he read me last game, it was deep and meaningful. With bona it felt superficial and like he was reading a script.kgray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:04 pmI don't understand this or how he's doing it with bona? And why is it less towny now? Do you think he's faking whatever it is?BunnyGo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:58 pm
He asked me if I thought insightfulness was town indicative after he saw through me really quickly. He's doing something very similar here with bona, but I don't find it as towny this time.
Also, I get the impression that as much as celaph enjoys solving (and is very very good at reading people and their motivations), he'd be an excellent liar and would enjoy trying it this game. I expect that if he were offered a reasonable non-town role, he'd take it.
And your second point is not particularly compelling to me lol
I agree...it isn't the most compelling case.
@ghug: still waiting on the summary of who has claimed what and who hasn't.

That's cool you don't find it scummy. A lot of this is just producing content to reread later. I'm a little miffed I didn't suspect Jamie last game based on his ghug interactions.
