I think it may not be sports related given it's usually seen once or twice a year ...
It's interactive, so I think it's an avenue worth going down.

Okay, is it sport related?
There is (surprisingly) a sport that uses it.

I can't think of anything that I would use to entertain myself once or twice a year in the summer and which is tangible enough to try inserting into myself.
I don’t think that you would use it, but you would see it. But everyone can use it due to its price and availability but most people don’t.

It does not have anything to do with Polo, this sport that the thing is used in is less common.

I'll take that as a no. How about pigeon? Maybe quiver?

It is not. The name of the sport is just extreme 'word', so it's not that helpful

But the primary way to entertain yourself with this object is unrelated to this sport?

Well, the sport is just an extreme version of how you would normally use it

I have never seen it hyphenated, it is most commonly seen in its 2-word form.
