At least now you can see who did it, and if you click their profile it shows how recently they've done it. It would be a very risky form of cheating.

Unless they coordinated to remove the plus ones after they signalled to living teammates, but if they're doing that they might as well cheat by just DMing.

Will I be allowed to announce my discard?

Yes, you will. I don't see a good reason to prevent that. Taking up Ghug's suggestion and not listing the discard pile means there's less danger of the game being broken by people mass-claiming their discards (remember there are also 22 cards that will never have been in circulation).

I think because there will be 20+ cards not in distribution, you could list the discarded cards and not break the game. A Mass claim on discards will always be subject to WIFOM because of the cards not actually used.

Is there a good reason, from a game balance perspective, why the discard pile *should* be revealed? Does concealing the contents of the discard pile cause any faction an unfair disadvantage?

@Jamie will you be declaring how many rolecards of each type there are? If so then if the discards are revealed then it might be possible to determine if particular roles are absent from the game. Not sure if this matters particularly but I just thought I'd throw it out there for consideration.

Would anybody even take such reads seriously? If the person openly announced their intention to do it then perhaps, but I don't even imagine bozo doing a deep dive on a dead townie's +1s

I read a lot on my phone and wonder what the plus 1s are signaling. If I read too soon, what does someone making a plus 1 say about their mental state? What if my scummate and I are the only ones on and use some plus 1 to signal each other without leaving evidence.

I strongly vote no plus 1. Go find other posts of theirs and plus those.

You can check the +1s on your phone too, for the record. I pretty much exclusively play from my phone and have no problem with it.

If I read early and often, I miss the signals that others give.
If I read on the bot, I miss it entirely

Sure, but if we're going to allow that, we should just allow it in the thread. All of your concerns about +1ing in the thread apply at least as much and sometimes more to out of thread +1s.

We had several games with +1 allowed with no drama.

I know any game I GM will have +1ing.

It is worth noting that for scum to coordinate +1 communication, they'd either have to plan it in their QT, which the GM could put a stop to, or they'd have to communicate illegally to begin with, at which point, they could just... communicate illegally.

My main point of temporal reading being different is still unaddressed and crucial. Two people can read the same thread and find different information because someone else +1 in between.
