Here’s my big announcement:

I’ll make an announcement in 10 minutes!
I think the weight of an announcement is much smaller considering there's nothing to do right now.
It’s only weighty if I miss EON. But I preloaded it in another tab and set an alarm
Is this the reason you said we couldn't play among us until after 8?

I tried my hand at making calzones today. They were ok. Unlike the deli rye I’ve been making they weren’t just like I remember from childhood.
This was not the announcement.

No. That’s because older child’s bedtime goes until 8.

But I excuse myself when my alarm at 745 went off and left the wife to finish I’d been reading to him for 40 minutes already.

Ok. Big announcement:

I learned to knit today!

And there will be a big game relevant announcement in 3 minutes.

Wow. Bunny is getting old. Maybe next they'll start having joint pain and playing bridge.

My announcement:

Sadly I scanned rdr last night. Was worried he was alive too long and would keep being alive.

Good luck all. Don’t forget my scans and hunting suggestions.

And aaro. You played bridge very well that one time.

EoN4 Reads that are shorter because I got distracted and forgot to write them:

Aarodactyl - Disliked his D4 a lot as previously mentioned, as I feel he gave himself the option to jump to HB but didn't want to do it unless HB was winning, which is definitely a plausible scumtell. His D2 still looks good given the timing of his vote but it's also possible he didn't like the brain flashwagon that was just beginning and decided to bus ghug as a result. Overall fairly null.

Bonatogether - VCA looks downright awful and I don't really know who he thinks this scumteam is, as he seems to agree with a lot of people's assertions and piggyback off of them. Beginning to return to a stronger scumread now. Scum.

Bozotheclown - Still exists. Still meh. Still null.

BunnyGo - Very strong townread. Like his focus on Bona yesterday. Like the way basically everything he's done since has been. Town as fuck.

celaph - Still leaning town, though wasn't on HB yesterday. A general absence at both of the critical EoD's, with him parking old votes on emc in both instances doesn't look so great in retrospect though. Possible deepthreat. Hope he gets scanned.

Chaqa - Still town. I don't see him hyperaggressiely going after ghug like that as a teammate. Would like to see a much better case on emc from him though.

damo - Pretty reasonable townread

Donny Dude - Still don't see a world in which scum!ghug makes up meta for scum!Donny, so I'm still parking a strong townread on Donny as a result.

Fluminator - Meh. Bona looks worse than him on VCA, but Flum is still yet to do anything townie and Durga still looks poor. Possible scum still

emc - Unconvinced by cases on him. Null

Jamie - Extremely strong townread. No way he's scum.

worcej - I tend to concur that the HB "slip" on not realising who worcej replaced makes him town. A point of note here is that N1 would have a scum QT with HB in, and worcej was already in the game. Fluminator was not, however, as Durga had not yet replaced out. So I don't buy that the 'slip' would make Flum town, as HB wouldn't have had a night phase with Flum to realise he was in the game, and if worcej isn't scum there's no reason for HB to have been certain who replaced ND.

President Eden - A lot of question marks but there's so many better candidates than him. Slight town.

Chapter 8

“Did you find anything?” asked Jess.

“The cave system continues north. We didn’t find a way out, but it opens up considerably. I didn’t want to go too far without you” replied Sam.

“Ok. Get everyone else prepared. We’ll go deeper into the cave and hope to find another way out.”

Jess got up and wandered over to the other side of the cavern, where Kelsey was being attended to. She lay on the ground, her spear had been broken in half and used as an impromptu splint. She gave Jess a thumbs up as she approached, but Jess could see the pain in her eyes. Private Beth Summers knelt beside her, tending to her other scrapes and securing the splint tightly.

“How are you doing?” asked Jess.

“I’ve had worse days,” said Kelsey, smiling.

“I don’t know about that” said Beth, “Her leg is broken. The break is clean and there is almost no risk of infection, but she needs to stay off that leg as much as possible. We will have to carry her.”

“Ok. We can break a couple more spears and use those to form a board. Two people can carry as she lays on top.” Said Jess.

“No” replied Kelsey.

“What do you mean, no?”

“No. I won’t have me slowing you down, Jess. Everyone is depending on us. And I sure as shit won’t let you have soldiers break their spears just so you can haul me around. I’ve got food and water to last a few days. Find a way out of here, continue the mission and come back for me.”

Jess looked at her and said nothing. Her arguments made sense. If they could not find a way out of the caves, they were all doomed. She hated the idea, however, of leaving a soldier behind. She looked back at the rest of the regiment. Their faces were stoic, but an anxiousness filled the air. They had been listening to the conversation.

“You are right” Jess admitted. “Everyone gear up and get ready to move out. We push deeper into the caves and continue the mission. Leave your extra water here for Private Sash.”

Jess leaned in, and whispered into Kelsey’s ear, “I will come back for you. I promise.”

“I know” she replied.

With that Jess turned and headed deeper into the caves.
