Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
I feel like his philosophy of the game is very similar to mine, but the amount of effort he's putting into certain posts and many of the conclusions he's drawing feel like he's playing Balki's game.

The sorting hat. I like that.
Durga, what's the most significant element from PE contributing to your town-vibe of them?

Ghug I'm slightly suspicious of. Yes he disliked the style of play, but why overreact? Why claim godfather?
Why ignore me? Why respond to me? Some thoughts:
1) Ignoring me means you either don't know what's going on and decide to keep your head down, or know what's going on and want to see where it goes.
2) Why engage? Could be town motivated, but I don't see why. Town generally likes things to be shaken up. More often you're scum and want to keep yourself and your teammates from getting swept up.
So I need to go reread eventually and see who exactly said what in what order, but those were my prepared hypotheses for the experiment.

Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
1) I think so
2) ?????
3) I figured out some of the meta and general strategies. (When in doubt vote chaqa out)
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
It seems like he's genuinely trying to solve and provide reasoning unprompted and pushing the game towards activity when it's been pretty dead. I like all those things.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:29 pmThe sorting hat. I like that.

Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
1) You had one of the most clear and insightful reads not just at a surface level bu at a motivational level I've seen in this group.celaph wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 8:23 amBest I can give you is some questions.
1) Why are you targeting me in particular?
2) Do you find insightful commentary to be alignment indicative?
3) Can you walk me through your thought process on your recent claim that your role pm had the name "Natalie Reese" in it?
2) Maybe. I think scum know more about alignments, but this often means they have to easy a time to come up with insightful reads.
3) Natalie Reese was taken from the flavor text. I'm expecting us all to be one of the new recruits. When the first player flips, I expect in the story something bad happens to the new recruits in the story.
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
I've gotten pretty annoyed at everyone who's done this recently. I wasn't particularly kind to you when you were lying about GM communication last game, and that was less egregious than this to me. I PMed worcej suggesting clarifications on the town PM to help scum when I was town. Don't call it an overreaction just because you don't think what you did was wrong.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:31 pmYou see everything I see.President Eden wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:42 amHappy New Year!!!

I claimed godfather because it was the first scum role that came to mind that fit my flavor name.
You'll note I did respond to you every time you brought it up. I flipped a shit the third or fourth time when it became clear you were actually serious and I found it objectionable.

Congrats on graduating to Tier 3, but Durga's ISO is all happy warm feelings and I'd really prefer it stay that way thanks.
I feel the exact same way about ND and Bona both.
@all Is it considered acceptable to use, let's just say strictly hypothetically, Discord online activity to read a player in a game? Like let's say strictly in theory that I happen to know somebody was at the computer throughout the day yesterday and just not participating in this game very much. Would it be out of bounds to use that info to call them out? I'm just asking for a friend here.
If you start basing cases on people not being here playing, thats a good enough argument that you shouldnt need to verify where they are instead. I cant say ghug and I are in pikes place market and he seemed scummy so lets kill him.
I actually wouldn't frown on something like that. Brain's point about it but being a great way to read people is fair, but if it's information you already have and are using to read people, I think it's worth just putting out there.

Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
You think it is unacceptable to mislead people about the rules of the game? How many people here don't read the first page and don't know what the PMs are? How many people don't read the rules? Is it acceptable to mislead them and get a mistake? We praised (name escaping me, my apologies) for recently doing that in another game. It's clearly not against the rules to try and draw someone out for not knowing the details and panicking them. It's not against the rules to lie or mislead about the contents of your role PM. And it's not against the rules to put people on tilt. So again...if town players learned anything about how to win the game here then without breaking the rules I've advanced my win conditions. If no town players have learned anything (and continue not to in the future), then at least I did it early.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 3:40 pmSharing your character name would be acceptable if the GM had sent everyone a character name. The GM did not do this, and therefore what you actually did was to lie about your PMs from the GM in a manner which is extremely distasteful.BunnyGo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 3:46 amPres Eden understands my position on this: the GMs are doing us a favor and facilitating us to play a game. The scum team are doing us a favor and providing us a hunt. The rest of us get to play. And we get to play by the rules. The rules both explicit and implicit have always been that sharing my character name was acceptable and asking you a stupid question repeatedly until you were turned around was acceptable. I and others have now learned things from this. Maybe they've learned something about me.ghug wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 2:37 amI guess you weren't around for the game that nearly got ruined twice because of people exploiting sloppy PMs, or the game immediately after it where the GMs from the first game tried to break the game the same way as players.
^ that happened and I'm tired of it. There's a rule against sharing GM communications. The rule can't be internally consistent unless lies Annie GM communications are also illegal. Let's start enforcing.
Maybe we've all learned something about ourselves.
Hope you have a happy 2021.
Your unrepentant attitude to this is teaching us something about you, for sure.
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
K I'm pretty hungover and haven't absorbed most of the game. Last time that happened we killed ND and that worked out ok, so ##VOTE ND

Congratulations! I hope it continues to be healthy and happy times for you.brainbomb wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 6:34 pmSo Elizabeth and I learned yesterday that our baby is healthy, no defects or down syndrome. I was not surprised about that. The real shock was that im having a daughter not a son. The dna tests we first got were wrong! So brainbomb and mrs brainbomb will be having a baby girl in june now.
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
All fair as well. I'm not saying you're objectively wrong, I'm saying that it hasn't been a standardized rule and I don't think anyone can say I'm objectively wrong either.ghug wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:38 pmI've gotten pretty annoyed at everyone who's done this recently. Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
The manner in which you did so is tantamount to accusing the GM of fucking up, as I explained in detail before, because you are claiming that the GM sent information to you that they did not send to other people. That's impossible to explicitly prove or disprove without GM intervention which the GM is not going to do because that would break the game.
You may not technically have broken the rules as they are currently written but your behaviour is extremely distasteful and rather unkind to the GM. I think we will now have to review these rules after this game because of people like you who don't get this.
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
The method in which I did it was tantamount to baiting someone not knowing what was in the PMs. Anyone who knew would know that I was full of it. Anyone not paying attention wouldn't. I accused the GM of nothing.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:57 pmThe manner in which you did so is tantamount to accusing the GM of fucking up, as I explained in detail before, because you are claiming that the GM sent information to you that they did not send to other people. I don't think this is really productive, so I'm going back to only talking about if people bring it up and use it to read people. We should chat about it after the game, because I think even if you don't think it's against the rules now (I do), you should agree that it would be a nice rule to have, but I encourage y'all to join me in not arguing about it ad nauseum, as much as it's my own instinct to do so
