Whether it is a bowl made of cotton (rather impractical) or a metal bowl filled with cotton was not specified, but I hope they are happy with it.

Unfortunately I recently completed a course on Quantitative analysis and therefore I do, in fact, know that there are three Pythagorean means. I also know that for my stats work I only ever had to use the arithmetic mean.

Don't you do some financial statistics for purchasing? Financial averaging with compound interest should be geometric (unless intentionally trying to overestimate).

In my day job I am a strategic procurer, not a finance manager or a banker or an investment analyst. Most of the analysis I have to do in my job is on spend data - i.e. financial data that is in the past. I do not deal with budgets and do not have to calculate the movement of prices in the future. I have never, to my knowledge, had to do any calculations employing the geometric mean.
