It was the "in most scenarios going to be bad or misguided town" that gave me flashbacks.aarodactyl wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:43 amI don't know Demon at all, but I'd say this falls into the realm of speculation instead of damo math. However, as soon as they start to throw some numbers into it, I'll be sure to revisit it.ghug wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:33 amOh man, it's damo's shitty math all over again. No. In a vacuum a person that wasted a vote (ESPECIALLY if the previous judgement was a townie), is in most scenarios going to be bad or misguided town. In addition, unless the offender was a wagon the previous day, it would be a low info judgement (not a D1 counterwagon, not clearing up a wagon with multiple votes).
TBH, it's the old 'promise of future activity' and 'push lurks/ineffective townies' plots all in one.
But it's like 30 minutes into D1, so w/e. Trying to get some legit points in amongst the noise.
Two points:
1. Pushing lurkers/ineffective townies is great. I'll only be voting useless people for a couple days after we flip mechanically confirmed scum Vecna.
2. Maniac behaves pretty much solely to get the behavior he wants out of other people. The point he's making is simply that wasting your vote is bad, which is true.

You were lucky enough to avoid last game. It was pretty easy for lurkers to slip by considering how noisy and large the game was.DemonRHK wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:47 amFair enough. Mostly I just think in more cases than not it's seems likke a subpar strategy in most cases, but it all comes down to how intelligently iy's applied. Heaven knows I'd fuck it up, hence my hesitation.aarodactyl wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:45 amI have very little knowledge of the meta, but I'll have to say, even though he had a high post count, it felt like Chaqa was able to win the last game by lurking for the early game.DemonRHK wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:39 amIf you keep all the shepards and sell all the shhep your business will go under.
I feel killing town for the sake of them being considered 'useless' is a quick way to spot scum an advantage. Hard telegraphing is just as poor.
Has the meta shifted that hard in that few games?
At least a few people are talking, tho.
Unrelatedly, I'd like to say that the shitposting is a lot more enjoyable considering I can tell people apart a bit more than last game

So I didn't bring it up (unlike the pressure I put on Chaqa and Jimbo for things I thought I saw).President Eden wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:00 amLast game:

There are two types of voting within this game: collective voting to execute perceived Mafia in Day phases, and Mafia faction actions.
Daykill vote: The first type of voting is for all players during the day, in which you vote for whom you intend to kill. Notate this vote with a pair of hash symbols before your intended vote target (e.g., ##VOTE bo_sox48).
You do not need to spell out your intended target's username fully; as long as the GM can understand who you're referencing. However, if there is a player that the bot does not quite understand without being spelled out in full, it would be helpful for everyone if you could spell their name out in full when voting for them. If in doubt, spell it out!
In the event of a tie during a Daykill vote, no one shall be killed.dargorygel wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:38 pm##GM NOTE

“Day Kill” vote: The first level of voting is for whom you intend to kill. Notate this vote with a pair of hash symbols before your intended vote target. If you disagree with me you're not only wrong, you are also defying the wisdom of Tom, the god of this game. I'd hate to be you!
But this seems a stretch to me. Tom isn't known for slips like this. And unlike last time when bo was used in every example, he used Zultar later. I'd be very careful using this argument. And I think you would be careful too.
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
I mean how often, without diving into math which I don't have the patience or gumption to do currently, do you find single vote wagon voters to be scum D1?

Hmmm. Why is celaph so angry about what's most likely a joke vote based on last game

Does this read as angry to you? This seems pretty normal for celaph's tone from last game
Re: MAFIA 63: THE SCOURGE
Last game there were two scum on one or two vote wagons D1, and that was with scum on the black.
