I’ve been thinking a lot about this and I also don’t feel good about voting for either maniac or Bona. I think flipping them still gives good info but I doubt either are scum. My biggest reason to townread Bona is that he didn’t vote with any of the scum D1 and D2 and that seems like too obvious. I feel like that much distancing is too strong of a signal and the scum were probably too smart for that. That argument only applies to maniac for D1 so I guess I’d feel better about that vote.

I think my vote is still on HR and I think we should make sure we do that in the next one or two DKs but I’ll join the ##vote maniac wagon for today.

When aarodactyl finally voted D6, he said he did not think Maniac or Bonatogether were scum. Now today he is voting for Bonatogether, his counter wagon, without having made a case to vote for anyone else. aarodactyl is more concerned about self preservation right now than he is with finding the last scum.

Do you think if he were pulling off a fake slip he'd say that he meant goon as in a "general bad guy" and not goon as in "non-PR scum"?

Wouldn't saying he meant goon as in "non-PR scum" be more of a fake townslip? So why does he initially say he meant "general bad guy"?

The "general bad guy" was part of the same performance in the sense he right away accused ghug of trying to catch him in the scumslip of "knowing Jamiet was a role-goon".

It would take a while for me to cite specific examples the way you have with aarodactyl, but the way aarodactyl was playing D3 is very different than the way he has been reluctant to vote for his scum reads since D5.

Yeah. I’m not hesitant when we have confirmed scum. Talking about mechanics was one of the first things I felt like I could engage with in this game.

I find that believable, however I think it is also something easier to do as scum than having to fabricate scum reads for non-mechanical reasons.

Of course I’m worried about self preservation. Any town member in my position would be. It’s true I don’t have any leads on the last scum but also I’ve been on my phone all morning and it’s much harder to look back on post history with that.

It was incredibly messy. He thought I was trying to catch him in a scumslip rather than a townslip, and he changed his answer pretty quickly.

Sorry, I'm confused. You think this is what happened:

(1) bona fake townslips that Jamie was a goon (as in, not the roleblocker) as a way to show he didn't know Jamie's role
(2) ghug questions his use of the word "goon"
(3) scum!damo interrogates him over his use of the word "goon"
(4) bona says that what he meant was "we already knew Jamie was scum" and accuses ghug of trying to catch him in a *scumslip* for already knowing Jamie was a role he didn't have. That wouldn't be a scumslip from scum!bona's perspective.

And if he planned the actual townslip (thinking Jamie was a roll-goon) then why wouldn't he stick with that interpretation of the word goon?

The thing I thought was suspicious was that he seemed to be worried that he had slipped by knowing what the term goon meant. But if that were the case, it makes no sense for him to have been doing the whole "townslip" thing in the first place, because it would rely on him knowing what the term meant.

I agree with that. And in general, I understand where you’re coming from with a lot of your points. However, I’m not scum. And I do think if you had a better baseline for how I play games, you wouldn’t scum read me here.

If he went in pretending he thought Jamiet was a goon, it would be easy to play it up a bit before the inevitable "oops he's a roleblocker my bad"

He would have had to have planned for his reaction to be "ghug is trying to catch me in a scumslip" when from scum!Bona's point of view, what he was doing was objectively not a scumslip. That's a lot of layers.

We're not in a do-or-die situation, and I don't think it's scummy to be sort of checked out here. But scumreading aaro for not digging into the game when he's being accused of a bunch of stuff is iffy at best.
