uugghhh. I'm so over you saying I didn't have any clue at what balki was doing and then saying that means I did a weird scumslip. I knew there were several options that balki could have been doing. I didn't think he was VT, but that doesn't mean I was sure he wasn't VT. I also had talked the previous night about how I wanted to talk more about the situation the next day.ghug wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 6:57 amI've gone over this with him already, but here's the gist:kgray wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 6:49 amYes, and I don't see why you think that's scummy. Because when I saw Balki's flip everything made sense, so I feel like his reaction is similar to mine. Why do you think aaro wouldn't have figured out what Balki was doing once he saw the flip?
You think he meant "wait how did my NK go through, I was certain HR was the priest and would save Balki"? Or "wait how did Balki trick me, I was certain he was the priest who couldn't save himself and that's why I killed him"?
- aaro has no fucking clue what Balki is doing
- Balki flips VT
- People start reacting. Flum and I think it's hilarious that Balki actually baited a kill (something consistent with our previous takes on Balki and our not wanting to kill HR). HR thinks it's funny he's not dead. Celaph says that all the priest noise worked better than he expected. Chaqa yawns because he stayed up too late playing Among Us and planning Chipotle dates with imaginary partners.
- Aaro reacts like Flum and I did, instead of saying "wtf I thought he was going to be priest or scum.
- aaro's reaction also just doesn't pass the town organicity smell test. This bit I don't really expect people to follow, but I feel it strongly in my bones.

I'm up too late to be playing mafia but I'm going to ##vote aaro. I think we should vote celaph or flum but it doesn't look like there's enough support for those today.

Why Flum?Bonatogether wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:28 amI'm up too late to be playing mafia but I'm going to ##vote aaro. I think we should vote celaph or flum but it doesn't look like there's enough support for those today.![]()
Is it because he thought Balki was the priest?
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
Ugh, I don't know. I was writing up a reply about how I think our reactions were different in tone but not necessarily coming from different alignments but I can't really logically defend him. I get your point, and it does seem like he's being inconsistent.ghug wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:09 amNo, I get what you're saying.
I was even kinda taken by your argument that his reaction mirrored how you felt, but then I went and found your reaction. You said "Oh. Okay, I get it now. Sorry Balki.
But if he's scum, then he just merged Flum's/your reaction into his, and didn't bother to think about how he was presenting his opinion of Balki's role yesterday/last night. That's weird, and would pretty lazy. Not something I'd expect from him, and I think not something you'd expect since you think he's competent. Don't you think he'd have thought that through more?
Presumably, scum had to make a decision about whether or not to kill Balki based on whether or not they thought he was the Priest. I think that whoever is scum (including aaro) could have thought of a more organic-sounding way to react to either role Balki had - or just not reacted to it.
And I don't see any reason to brush off the scenario where aaro is town who just realized what Balki was doing and was surprised by it and its effectiveness. Nothing about his reaction makes me think that's not possible.
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
@bona, when you wake up tomorrow can you please explain why you still want to wagon me even though I'm probably town. Do you town read everyone else more?

This largely comes down to us disagreeing, which is fine. I think we understand each other clearly enough that we're not going to move each other much, so I think we should listen to whichever scumbucket suggested we talk about other people.ghug wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:35 am"kgray wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:31 amUgh, I don't know. I will say that thinking he's competent isn't the same as thinking he's good. We hold new players to a lower standard for a reason. There will be cracks in his scum game if he's scum, they'll just be harder to see behind his demonstrating an understanding of the game and a willingness to talk, and a lack of meta knowledge on him. I think this could be one of those cracks. I think the hesitance to vote that bozo points out could be another. There's a lack of anything to warrant a strong townread in my eyes. There were some weird interactions with Bunny. It adds up.

I've gone over this with him already, but here's the gist:
- aaro has no fucking clue what Balki is doing
- Balki flips VT
- People start reacting. Flum and I think it's hilarious that Balki actually baited a kill (something consistent with our previous takes on Balki and our not wanting to kill HR). HR thinks it's funny he's not dead. Celaph says that all the priest noise worked better than he expected. I was going to talk about the possible permutations and what we wanted to do about them. I wanted one of them to eventually retract their claims.

aaro said he wanted to talk about me. I like talking about me.
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
True, I'm just one of the 4 new players in this game, and we all blend together so much.
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
But I don't want to talk about you. It's hard for me to read you, or to trust my read of you... But I haven't gotten any paranoid feelings about you so I think you're town and I'm willing to just assume that for a while.
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
That probably means I'm scum.
Re: M62: PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF REVOLUTIONARY MAFIA GAME THREAD!
Yeah, but this is around the point in the game in M60 when I was pretty suspicious of you based on how you interacted with just one flipped scum. So this game where we have a bunch more scum flipped and I haven't seen that, I'm not as worried. You could have changed up your scum game.... but bozo said he doesn't think you're scum, so I'll trust both of us on that for now.ghug wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:52 amThat probably means I'm scum.
