As scum you are clearly more likely to be biased we conclude that there is an 84.9% chance ghug is scum.

That said, ghug has an even bigger scum slip here, he celebrates Christmas. A holiday about religion and satisfying consumerism within the populace. Both those ideas are completely antithetical to the ideals of communism. In saying he celebrates Christmas, ghug has outed himself as fake communist scum. Get him.

I don't understand how you of all people don't understand that this is the smarter play for the smuggler. Whoever was scanned was eventually dead anyway. A chance at outing the jailer is not worth taking a teammate or two down with you when you go.

I don’t really understand this. Assuming Durga did track the smuggler: if the smuggler lies they get caught immediately, like bunny did. If they’re honest they might have a chance at surviving one more DK by going head-to-head with the jailer. Either way, once they flip, the person they visited on the night Durga tracked them is outed. So why is lying “better” when it has the same outcome but they die and confirm their teammate earlier? Just in the off-chance that Durga didn’t track them?

If anything, it makes sense for the smuggler to know that, if tracked, they were tracked N1 because Jamie was already outed for killing Neph N2, and they wouldn’t need to be honest about their N2 visit. So damo being smuggler and saying he’d have jailed ghug both nights could be damo protecting the third teammate that he smuggled N2.

I’ll also point out that damo mentioned reads of ghug twice before D3, once to give him a vague townread and once to include him in a list of possible scum who voted for town. So it really makes no sense at all that he’d jail ghug.

This is why I think it was a close call for the smuggler whether to give real or fake targets.

The idea of giving the real target for D1 and a fake target for D2 would have been a good option. Durga never said she caught Jamie D2, but the scum could likely deduce that since teacon probably performed the NK D1. However, I think if damo and ghug are the remaining scum, damo likely did target ghug both days.

Where is this assumption coming from that teacon preformed the N1 kill?

Townreading him because I can't imagine him being cocky enough to sit on the thread and +1 shit all day is that weakness. Townreading him for loudly proclaiming that scum orchestrated a daykill by all voting together or that scum is going to nightkill an inactive player is different.

I understand the reason that there is almost never organization going on in the scum thread, and new players hypothesizing stuff like that shows how little they know of forum scum teams. (ie more likely to be town)
Normally that would be a compelling reason to townread a new player, but I'm assuming yoyo was useless as coordinator and not doing anything, so he might be assuming normal coordinators would?

I have considered that point, and I think it's a reasonable one, but it doesn't explain why he'd think all the scum would be voting together D2 to get someone killed, or why he expected an inactive player to be NKed. We know the scum orchestrated a lot of distancing and bussing early on, so I don't think that's how new scum would be trying to scumhunt.

But @bona, I think you are not considering that townies kill other townies all the time. Just because a bunch of people make a push to kill someone who ends up town doesn't mean those people are scum. It can help to try to look for motivations for why people do things.

If Hamilton were confirmed scum, that would be one thing. But as it is now, all we know is that there was a late push on town. What do you think scum would do in this situation if Hamilton is town? What about if he's scum? How is that different from what a townie would do? Without knowing Hamilton's alignment (and technically even if we knew his alignment, but I don't want to get into that now), how can you assume it was scum that killed brain?

If he's town, I think scum would either let HB get knocked or, in the event that he's screwing up in a major way, let him stay alive. If he's scum, I think it'd be a bus if he was a goon or a drive to save him if he was an important role. In either case, I think it'd be best to disregard HB.

For the difference from a townie question, I don't know you want me to compare from.

In my opinion, scum that killed brain (or at least heavily encouraged the townies who sussed him) because that was an incredibly fast vote that came right at the EoD - 9 votes in the space of an hour, although there was a prior history of a fair amount of people soft scumreading him.

I do have a hard time believing he genuinely missed Jamiet being a roleblocker.
