there seems to be this idea that day 1 we had 2 scum on the brink of elim. I am not that confident in myself to imagine that I had maniac on a random push. his play isnt actually that bad, hes just a daffy dude.

itd be funny if I keep scumreading people this game and then 180ing and then they all actually do flip scum

so far im 0-1 with teacon
if hamilton flips wolfy im 0-2
if maniac flips wolfy is be 0-3

I guess you could just keep flipping the people I 180 on. lol
but I doubt that ill lose all scent

I dont think hamilton is town fwiw. I had him town yesterday for his posts looking bold but it seemed perhaps a bit too defensive to be bold

if at any time celaph feels annoyed by my repeating hes scum, the simplest way to solve that is by posting reads, hunting as he promised, and walking us through progressions from day 1

I haven't played on this forum before, but I played a fair bit in college. Not with nearly this many roles though.
Nice to meet you aarodactyl. Happy Thanksgiving.

Have you read any of the games here?
What do you expect will be the hardest part about finding scum in a forum game instead of a live game?
How do you scumhunt in live games, and is that adaptable to this format?

Same goes for @bonatogether and @celaph, but I guess I also want to know what your mafia/werewolf experience is too.

I haven’t read any of the games here. I’ve debated doing it in the past but it seems like it would take a long time given all the volume.

I’m a little concerned about different players blurring together, since I don’t have people to associate them with. Also the sheer volume of posts is going to make figuring out signals hard.

To be honest, I’m not great a hard reads so I usually like to try to think about reads in terms of roles in live games.
Agree re: post volume. That'll get better after the holidays, I think. What signals amid the noise have you noted so far? Are you looking for roles here? How much do you think meta should play into read of alignment?

general thoughts, since I'm finally caught up to the present and gonna head out for a while this evening:

The first half of d1 is always nonsense, exacerbated this time around by thanksgiving parties and the like. NAI.

Balki et al made general "hey calm down" posts - all of which seem sensible. Half the players want to scheisspost for all of D1, the other half doesn't really want to play until D1 is over because shennanigans. Toxicity does not help town. Can we tone it down? It'll allow more rational thought and less anger-driven flailing. (Same applies for election politics, about which I'm fairly salty rn, so none of this is new).

Vecna looking towny, primarily for the engagement when he was catching up. The first sober voice in 20 pages.

@HB: do you actually scumread kgray? Why or why not? do you think she'd be a good daykill today?

@bozo/yoyo/vash - when are you planning on reading and posting more? what do each of you, individually, think of worcej so far?

@celaph @bona did you see my questions?

@vecna @emc - I can only recall worcej as a GM, and not a player. Is he usually like this? why do you have the read you do on him right now?

I started reading one ages ago, but then life happened and it got dropped. What's a good solid game that yall would recommend?
I personally am most proud of M22.

I've done mafia and werewolf before - a lot of in person stuff, where it's much easier to tell if someone's lying because of their voice or their usual strategy. This is my first forum game, so I don't know anyone's strategy. I'll probably binge read a game or two to figure people out.
That's a decent idea, but practically speaking... it'd be surprising if anyone could binge read an entire game or two, just to get a sense of strategy. You're better off just playing a couple games.

Why did you pick these three as the ones who've done jack?
I looked at peterbot, and they seemed like the ones that people expected more posts from. Vashta and Dargo haven't been mentioned in ages.
Darg's a GM. Could be why he's not posting as much.

Why? what did you like about bozo's posts?

And what scummy posts have bona and celaph made that you didnt like? I thought you were ok with them in your walls?
I like how bozo is present since n1. he is in the thread actually battling people about his reads. hes looking for groups that could be bussing, its all his standard types of posts.

celaph promised a concerted effort to hunt which hasnt hapened and hes instead laid low.

teacon may have tried to help them both in thread (bona and celaph) by lifting them up and sstablishing a minimum expectation of play. trying to boost them with softball questions about their experiences. teacon didnt treat aaro that same way either
AS you can see in my quoted wall above here, he actually interacted a bunch more with aarodactyl so your response there does not seem accurate.

I actually like your point, but the conclusion seems wrong.

He started out by throwing softballs to aarodactyl, and then also threw in the other two. He did follow up on it though when they did not respond.

If it was meant as a way to lift them up, do you think they would just ignore it?

hey bunny
sorry to hear about all the hardships you are facing. I hope this game provides you a mental break from all that stress.
Thanks. I just needed to vent. Mostly I still have it good and shouldn’t complain. It’s more the interpersonal stress of managing everyone’s emotions and anger. I’m getting there.

As far as I can tell there is only one person that moved off Teacon7 and on to ND and that's Kgray. (She moved from Teacon --> Bunny --> ND)

She has to be accountable for her actions today.

I think Teacon's non involvement at EOD1 was because he were confident that their scum buddies would save him. Kgary's actions could well be a 'saving teacon' move.

##vote Kgray
This reasoning here strikes me as shallow and poor. Particularly the point that she must be held accountable.

@maniac, do your reads of kgray message support the notion that she is scum? If so, can you elaborate on those?

Does scum damo really do this in a game where everyone is townreading Kgray?
Maniac is also apparently scumreading Kgray, and I thought Balki was too?
I think Bozo was also scumreading kgray to an extent.

Ah ok thanks GM, that's interesting. Not the standard adjudication, so worth clarifying.

I guess it's meaningless for anyone to declare "I was not roleblocked" because a VT would not even learn this.... but also if you think you were roleblocked, please don't say, because you'd effectively be outing the fact that you had a night action.
The reverse is true as well, claiming you werent roleblocked if you actually were, lets scum know youre a VT.
From a more meta perspective, how often do town lie in these games? I could see a town role lying that they weren't roleblocked so that scum misidentify them.
