It's pretty indicative of the community here that the two people who tried to break this game did so because they were grumpy that others broke their game last time, instead of attempting to act with any empathy.

There's an entire set of ancient greek plays about this exact theme. This is why we ought to resist the urge for revenge, encourage restraint, and both publicly and privately praise just and transcendent laws. Otherwise it's repeating cycles of revenge and self-determined justice. fwiw, it's not just the webdip community that struggle with this. y'all #$%$%ers need Jesus.

The pizza tell actually broke a few games imo.

FTR, I'm not actually starting a trust tell. It's to illustrate there's always ways to break games.
In one diplomacy game I was really indignant when I got teamed out for trying to blackmail a rulebreaker into doing what I said or else I'd report him to the mods. But now that I've gotten older and more mature, I can understand the viewpoint that it's not that great or clever to always try to break the game in your advantage even if it's not officially cheating.

That said, I don't think it's bad we were trying to make sure the game can't be broken now before it really started. Better now than on day 2.

Because I already stated that trying to break the game was a bad tactic. The GM will handle such information. I assumed he would PM you, and we could get on with the game.

Trust Tells: If some username on the internet claims they'll buy me pizza for acting a certain way, they could still be lying. It's cute, but not convincing.

The headline would go: "Guy really cares about online mafia game, spends real cash to lie better when trying for glory." Fact is though, sending me pizza really only convinces me you care about this a lot, not that you're mechanically XYZ alignment. Again, this is a case of appealing to (and using?) out-of-game elements to effect change in-game.

Actually, someone buy me pizza. Not because it'll persuade me, but because I'm getting hungry and eating too much halloween candy.

Haven't you seen bo_sox play as scum before? He regularly does things, as scum, that you'd say "scum don't do". Often they are not great plays, but still.
