Pretty much anything is worth commenting on, it's the point of the game. It just stood out to me that that was the only post he's made so far.

And you said yourself that it's a desolate start as far as having anything to go off goes. So I'm not seeing why you're throwing shade at him for not providing a "useful" contribution in the first 3 pages. Is it something about his tone?

It was an offhand comment that for some reason is garnering a lot of attention - since when does calling something weird mean throwing shade? If I thought it was scummy I would have said so. I also never mentioned that I was in any way concerned about him not making a useful contribution in the first 3 pages -where are you getting that from? I'm not following your logic or your facts.

I think he's canny enough to do this. I don't have a sense he's town from his posts, and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he were the Devil.

I think that calling something "weird" is an easy way to make people suspicious of a person/post without taking any responsibility for it. Scum can do this to make people look harder at other players and then when questioned can do exactly what you're doing and take a step back. You said it was odd and not useful (that was your word, not mine) so I could very easily see this as a way to put out feelers and see if people would scumread HR while you wouldn't need to actually push the wagon.

But, in general I'm also surprised that his one post was important enough to you to call it out, which is why I asked for more of an explanation to your thought process. I didn't think it was that weird, so if you're town and it bothered you I wanted to know why.

Sure, it's possible. I think there are more subtle ways someone could signal their team, though, and I doubt Tom would depend on that argument when he could just avoid drawing attention to himself in the first place.

I can somewhat understand where you're coming from, but I think you're misapplying your reasoning. I agree that scum often try to push wagons while avoiding responsibility, 100%. To call that what I'm doing, however, is a pretty big stretch. Mentioning that I found HR kind of weird for popping in for just that one post does nothing to scumread him, and there's nothing there that anyone else would realistically ever scumread him for either.

It's not that his one post was 'important', per se. It's that after reading the thread again from the beginning, I listed my initial thoughts and that was simply one of them. I think it's important for town to be constantly both evaluating the game, and communicating their evaluation. If everyone would do that all the time, the scumteam would never make it past day 2 as it would become pretty clear who has an organic thought progression and who doesn't. And obviously, thoughts on the game will take a much different form 50 pages into the game, as opposed to 5.

After reading that post there definitely seems to be something there. Maybe he was trying to set a trap? That’s the only way it would make sense to be so clumsy with a signal like that. Unless it was a true slip of course.

Well I didn't wait and read the thread. So far:
I can't see why would scum Tom do that signal post unless he is traitor. This seems like a town post to me because the mafia would be more careful with what they write. Anyway, it's not enough to townread Tom but I don't get the logic behind scumreading him for this.

So...random story from my evening before I get into this:

We got my kids an ant farm (one of those classic little things you fill with wet sand like stuff and has green plastic farm cutouts). They shipped us ants for it (why we didn’t grab some from the yard, I dunno). We then transferred these large, hyperactive, with heavy pinchers ants in our dining room. They proceeded to escape. (Why we didn’t transfer them outside, I don’t know). We’ve just finished tracking them down and transferring them one at a time in. But I think I’ll feel them crawling on me for the next week or so.

All that said, I’m looking forward to anything to distract me. And I geared up for the game by watching old Duck Amock and Rabbit of Seville episodes. Let’s have fun.
